2022 Women's World Matchplay
The 2022 Betfred Women's World Matchplay was the inaugural staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation. The tournament featured the top eight players on the 2022 PDC Women's Series Order of Merit, competing in a knockout format, with the winner earning a place in the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts and the 2023 PDC World Championship. The tournament was held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on 24 July 2022. Fallon Sherrock won the title, defeating Aileen de Graaf 6–3 in the final. Format The format was confirmed on 30 June 2022, with the tournament using a leg format. The quarter-finals are the best of 7 legs (or first to 4 legs), the semi-finals are the best of 9 legs (or first to 5 legs), and the final is the best of 11 legs (or first to 6 legs). Winter Gardens, Blackpool
The Winter Gardens is a large entertainment complex in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, which includes a theatre, ballroom and conference facilities. 2022 Grand Slam Of Darts
The 2022 Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts, was the sixteenth staging of the Grand Slam of Darts, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The event took place at the Aldersley Leisure Village, Aldersley, Wolverhampton, 12–20 November 2022. Gerwyn Price was the defending champion, after defeating Peter Wright 16–8 in the 2021 final, but he was eliminated by Raymond van Barneveld, losing 16–13 in their quarter-final. Michael Smith won his first major title, defeating Nathan Aspinall 16–5 in the final. It was the first time the tournament had been won by an Englishman since 2014, when it was won by Phil Taylor. World Matchplay (darts)
The World Matchplay, also known as the Betfred World Matchplay for sponsorship purposes, is a professional darts tournament and one of three legs of the Triple Crown. It is played in a legs format, and is run by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Michael van Gerwen is the current champion after winning the 2022 edition. History The World Matchplay has been played annually since 1994 in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The first ever winner was Larry Butler, who beat Dennis Priestley 16–12, and the current holder is Micheal van Gerwen. It is regarded as the second biggest PDC Tournament, status shown by the fact the whole tournament was sold out within three days of the tickets being on sale. The PDC World Darts Championship, known for sponsorship purposes as the Cazoo World Darts Championship, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), is a World Professional Darts Championship held annually in the sport of darts. Aileen de Graaf (born 25 April 1990) is a Dutch darts player playing in events of the World Darts Federation (WDF). She is member of the Dutch national team. The 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2022/23 Cazoo World Darts Championship) is the upcoming 30th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation.
