2022 Women's T20I Inter-Insular Series
The 2022 Women's T20I Inter-Insular Series, consisting of two Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) matches, took place in Jersey in June 2022. The series was originally scheduled to consist of three WT20I matches, but the third match was later changed to an unofficial contest. The venue for the matches was the Grainville Cricket Ground in St Saviour. The women's inter-insular competition was last contested in 2019, when Guernsey won a single WT20I match. The series followed the 2022 Men's T20I Inter-Insular Series which took place in Guernsey in May 2022. Jersey Women won all three matches in the series. Women's Twenty20 International
Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) is the shortest form of women's international cricket. A women's Twenty20 International is a 20 overs-per-side cricket match between two of the International Cricket Council (ICC) members. The first Twenty20 International match was held in August 2004 between England and New Zealand, six months before the first Twenty20 International match was played between two men's teams. The ICC Women's World Twenty20, the highest-level event in the format, was first held in 2009. In April 2018, the ICC granted full Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Therefore, all Twenty20 matches played between two international sides after 1 July 2018 will be a full WT20I. Grainville Cricket Ground
Grainville Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Saint Saviour, Jersey. History The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1988 when Jersey played the Hampshire Second XI. Jersey have used the ground since then and it has held a number of international tournaments, including matches in the 2008 World Cricket League Division Five which was won by Afghanistan, and more recently the 2010 European Cricket Championship Division One, which Jersey won. The ground also hosted four matches for a combined Channel Islands team when it was permitted to take part in the English Minor counties MCCA Knockout Trophy competition in 2001 and 2002. St Saviour, Jersey
St Saviour (Jèrriais: ; ) is a parish of Jersey in the Channel Islands. It is located directly east of St Helier. It has a population of 13,580. It has a land surface area of 3.6 square miles (9.3 km2) and has a very small coastline at Le Dicq. The parish is quite urbanised, hosting the suburbs and exurbs for the town of St Helier. Guernsey cricket team hosted Jersey cricket team from 31 May to 1 June 2019 to contest the 2019 T20 Inter-Insular Cup, consisted of three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The series took place at two grounds in Guernsey: College Field in Saint Peter Port and King George V Sports Ground in Castel. The two sides had played an Inter-Insular match annually since 1950, generally as 50-over contests. A Twenty20 series was played for the first time in 2018, with Jersey winning the inaugural series 3–0. Following the International Cricket Council's decision to grant T20I status to all matches played between Associate Members after 1 January 2019, this edition was the first to have this enhanced status. The captain of a cricket team, often referred to as the skipper, is the appointed leader, having several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of the other players. Wicket-keeper
The wicket-keeper in the sport of cricket is the player on the fielding side who stands behind the wicket or stumps being watchful of the batsman and ready to take a catch, stump the batsman out and run out a batsman when occasion arises. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Inter-Insular Cricket
Inter-Insular cricket refers to cricket contests between representative teams of Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands. An inter-insular match has been played annually between the two sides since 1950 and often attracts crowds above 1,000. It is often referred as ‘reds vs greens’ contest. The format has varied over the years but has been played as a 50-over contest in recent times and a Women’s Inter-Insular match was first played in 2009. In 2018, the format switched to a series of Twenty20 matches, although the traditional 50-over match returned from 2019 in addition to the Twenty20 series. The Twenty20 matches have had Twenty20 International status since 2019, as the International Cricket Council granted T20I status to all of its members from the start of the year.
