2022 Vermont Elections
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Vermont in 2022. All of Vermont's executive officers were up for election as well as Vermont's Classes of U.S. Senators, Class 3 U.S. Senate seat and its VT-AL, lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Vermont Republican Party
The Vermont Republican Party is the affiliate of the Republican Party in Vermont and has been active since its foundation in the 1860s. The party is the second largest in the state behind the Vermont Democratic Party, but ahead of the Vermont Progressive Party. The party historically dominated Vermont politics until the mid-20th century, but was replaced by the Vermont Democratic Party. The party currently has very weak federal electoral power in the state, controlling none of Vermont's federal elected offices. The two statewide offices that the party currently controls are the governorship, held by Phil Scott, and the lieutenant governorship, held by John S. Rodgers. Doug Hoffer
Douglas R. Hoffer Jr. (born September 3, 1951) is an American policy analyst from Burlington, Vermont, who is currently serving as the Vermont State Auditor. He took office on January 10, 2013. Early life and education Hoffer was born in New Rochelle, New York, and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut. He left high school in his junior year, and earned his high school equivalency two years later. He entered Williams College in 1981 at age 30, graduated with a B.A. in political science, and went on to receive a J.D. from the University at Buffalo Law School (magna cum laude). Deborah Markowitz is the state director for The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts. Prior to this, she served from 2011-2017 as the Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. She was appointed by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin. She has also been a Visiting Professor of Environmental Policy and Leadership at the University of Vermont Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. Founded in September 2009 by Anne Galloway, the newspaper has grown to have an average monthly audience of 650,000 and won numerous awards for its coverage of matters of statewide significance, including the flooding in July 2023. The digital news outlet is funded primarily through donations and philanthropy ($2.2 million in 2022), as well as through underwriting (business support). History The VTDigger was founded in September 2009 by Anne Galloway, with a focus on the politics, economy, environment, education, culture, and public policy of Vermont. Berlin ( ) is a town in Washington County, Vermont, United States, founded in 1763. The population was 2,849 at the 2020 census. Being the town between Barre and Montpelier, the two largest cities in the region, much of the commercial business of the region can be found in Berlin, including parts of the Barre-Montpelier Road ( U.S. Route 302), and the Berlin Mall. History Berlin was chartered June 8, 1763. The name refers to Berlin, Germany, and was the only German town name in this new English colony. Jim Condos
James Christos Condos (born January 29, 1951) is an American politician from Vermont. He is a former Vermont Secretary of State and former Democratic member of the Vermont State Senate, representing the Chittenden senate district. The district includes all of Chittenden County, except the town of Colchester. Condos served in the Vermont State Senate from 2001 to 2009. He was succeeded by Tim Ashe. In June 2010, Jim Condos announced he was running for Vermont Secretary of State in the November 2010 election. He won the Democratic Party primary by a 2 to 1 vote, winning in every Vermont county.
