2022 Uruguayan Primera División Season
The 2022 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the Campeonato Uruguayo de Primera División 2022, was the 119th season of the Uruguayan Primera División, Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 92nd in which it is professional. The season, which was named "Walter Devoto", began on 5 February and ended on 30 October 2022 due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar during November and December 2022. Nacional were the champions, winning their forty-ninth league title after placing first in the season's aggregate table and defeating Liverpool in the semi-final match. Peñarol were the defending champions. Teams 16 teams competed in the season: the top thirteen teams in the relegation table of the 2021 season as well as three promoted teams from the Segunda División. 2022 FIFA World Cup
The 2022 FIFA World Cup was the 22nd FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for national football teams organized by FIFA. It took place in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022, after the country was awarded the hosting rights in 2010. It was the first World Cup to be held in the Middle East and the Arab world, and the second in an Asian country after the 2002 FIFA World Cup, 2002 tournament in South Korea and Japan. Ignacio Ithurralde
Ignacio "Nacho" Ithurralde Sáez (born 30 May 1983 in Durazno) is a Uruguayan football manager and former player who played as a centre back. He is the current manager of Defensor Sporting. Playing career Club Ithurralde began his playing career in 2002 with Defensor Sporting where he spent 5 years. He played in Mexico with CF Monterrey in 2007 and then in Argentina with Olimpo and Rosario Central. In 2009, Ithurralde returned to Uruguay to play for Peñarol, and moved to Bolívar in the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano next year. In 2011, he had a brief spell with Paraguayan club Guaraní before moving to Chile to play for Audax Italiano. He moved to Millonarios FC in the Colombian Primera A in January 2012. Defensor Sporting Club is a sports club based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Club Plaza Colonia de Deportes, or simply Plaza Colonia, is a Uruguayan professional football club from Colonia del Sacramento, that competes in the Uruguayan Primera Division.
