2022 Stanford Cardinal Men's Soccer Team
The 2022 Stanford Cardinal men's soccer team represents Stanford University during the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. They are led by eleventh year head coach Jeremy Gunn. Previous season The Cardinal had a down year. They finished conference play at 2–4–4, 4th place in the Pac-12 season and 6–6–6 overall. The Cardinal were not invited to play in the postseason tournament. Jeremy Gunn
Jeremy Gunn is an English retired association football midfielder who is the head men's soccer coach at Stanford University. He played professionally in the USISL. Player Gunn played in both the Grimsby Town F.C. and Scunthorpe United F.C. youth systems in his native England before coming to the United States. He attended Cal State Bakersfield where he was a 1992 First Team NCAA Division II All American soccer player. In 1993, he joined the Chico Rooks of the USISL. In 1998, he moved to the Nashville Metros. On 29 May 1998, the Metros traded Gunn to the Charleston Battery for John Jones and a 1999 draft pick. Zachary Thomas Ryan (born January 14, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who currently plays for Loudoun United. Club career In 2019, Ryan originally signed with the San Francisco Glens in USL League Two, scoring three goals in three games before returning to Stanford University after the season. The 2022 MLS SuperDraft was the 23rd edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The SuperDraft is held every January prior to the start of the MLS season and has been conducted via conference calls since 2020. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention. Since 2021, the SuperDraft consists of three rounds. Teams that received fourth-round picks for this draft via past trades received compensatory picks instead. Ousseni Bouda (born 28 April 2000) is a Burkinabé professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes. Bouda was the recipient of the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year award for the 2017–18 season.
