The 2022 Viterra Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Saskatchewan, was held from January 5 to 9 at the Assiniboia Curling Club in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. The winning Penny Barker team represented Saskatchewan at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Assiniboia, Saskatchewan
Assiniboia is a town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located south-southwest of Moose Jaw beside Highway 2 and Highway 13. History The Dominion Land Survey's description of the area around Assiniboia is Sec.18, Twp.8, R.29, W2. It was first settled by people of English, French, Romanian, Scottish, and Scandinavian descent. From 30 March 1908 to 23 November 1912, the post office at this location was named Leeville, Saskatchewan. The settlement of Assiniboia originated on 12 October 1912, when the Canadian Pacific Railway put 980 lots up for sale at the townsite as it built a branch line through southern Saskatchewan. The community grew rapidly and on 22 December 1912, it was incorporated as a village. In 1913, the population rose from 400 to 1400, and the community was incorporated as a town. Chaelynn Kitz (born March 10, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Oxbow, Saskatchewan. She currently plays second on Team Robyn Silvernagle. Career Kitz represented Saskatchewan at back-to-back Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championships with her boyfriend Brayden Stewart in 2018 and 2019. In 2018, the pair finished first place in their pool with a 5–2 record before losing in the quarterfinals to Chelsea Carey and Colin Hodgson. At their second appearance in 2019, they just missed the playoffs with a 4–3 record. Kitz joined the Sherry Anderson rink for the 2019–20 season. Nancy Martin
Nancy Faye Martin (born February 17, 1973 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Career Martin has been playing on the World Curling Tour since the 2004-05 season. In the 2014-15 season, she joined the Jill Shumay rink at third. She has been skipping a rink since the 2015-16 season. Martin played in the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Olympic Trials with partner Catlin Schneider. They finished 5-3 and lost in a tiebreaker. She also competed in the 2019 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with Tyrel Griffith, losing to Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant in the final. Sherry Anderson (born January 6, 1964) is a Canadian curler from Delisle, Saskatchewan. She is a two-time winner of the World Senior Curling Championships for Canada. Career Anderson has been to ten Scotties Tournament of Hearts, six as a skip. Robyn Silvernagle (born May 20, 1987) is a Canadian curler from North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Career Silvernagle represented Saskatchewan at the 2005 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing the event with a 7–5 record and missing the playoffs. Silvernagle has skipped her own team since the 2009–10 curling season. Her team won the 2010 Cornerstone Credit Union Ladies Cash Bonspiel. Amber Holland (born July 10, 1974) is a Canadian curler from Loreburn, Saskatchewan. Holland skipped Saskatchewan's team to a national women's championship in 2011 by defeating defending champion Jennifer Jones in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and won a silver medal at the 2011 Capital One World Women's Curling Championship.
