2022 Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament
The 2022 Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament was a women's T20I (WT20I) cricket tournament that was held in Rwanda from 9 to 18 June 2022. This was the eighth edition of the annual Kwibuka T20 Tournament, first played in 2014 in remembrance of the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Matches were played at two venues in the city of Kigali – the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium and the IPRC Cricket Ground. Kenya were the defending champions, having won the 2021 edition. This was the fourth time that Kenya had won the tournament. Eleven teams were originally announced to participate this year, compared to five in 2021, highlighting the continued growth in size and reputation of the Kwibuka tournament. Rwanda Cricket Association
Rwanda Cricket Association is the official governing body of cricket sports in Rwanda. Its current headquarters is located in kicukiro district in Kigali city . Rwanda Cricket Association is Rwanda's representative at the International Cricket Council and is an associate member and has been a member of that body since 2003. It is also a member of the African Cricket Association. Today, cricket is one of the fastest-growing sports in Rwanda. The game was first introduced in the country after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, following the return of many Rwandans who had been exiled in English-speaking cricket-playing neighboring countries – such as Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Most of these exiles were students and played the game while pursuing their studies at the National University of Rwanda (now University of Rwanda). Tanzania Women's National Cricket Team
The Tanzanian women's cricket team is the team that represents the country of Tanzania in international women's cricket. Tanzania won the inaugural African women's championships in 2004 and has been one of the best-performed ICC associate member teams in Africa. The team also finished runner-up in the 2006 and 2011 African championships, but is yet to qualify for a global event.
