2022 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship
The 2022 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship was the 20th staging of the FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship, contested by the senior men's national teams of the members of the ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The tournament was held in Poland and Slovenia from 26 August to 11 September 2022. It was originally planned to be held in Russia. However, due to 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia's invasion of Ukraine starting on 24 February, Russia was stripped of organization rights. Italy men's national volleyball team, Italy claimed their fourth title, defeating the reigning world champions Poland men's national volleyball team, Poland in four sets. Brazil men's national volleyball team, Brazil won the third place match, defeating Slovenia men's national volleyball team, Slovenia in four sets. Vyacheslav Alekseyevich Zaytsev (, 12 November 1952 – 12 June 2023) was a Russian volleyball player who competed for the Soviet Union in the 1976 Summer Olympics, 1976, 1980 Summer Olympics, 1980, and the 1988 Summer Olympics. He was a setter. In 1976, Zaytsev was part of the Soviet Union men's national volleyball team, Soviet team that won the silver medal in the Olympic tournament in Montreal. The Slovenia men's national volleyball team represents Slovenia in international volleyball competitions and friendly matches, and is governed by the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia.
