2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Season
The 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer season was the 69th season of men's varsity soccer in the conference. Clemson were the defending champions of the Atlantic Conference and Pittsburgh were the defending champions of the Coastal Conference. Notre Dame were the defending ACC Tournament Champion. Eight ACC teams were invited to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Clemson had the best showing of the eight, winning their third title in program history. Syracuse won the Atlantic Conference with a 5–1–2 record and Duke won the Costal Conference. Syracuse went on to win the ACC Tournament 2–0 over eighth seed Clemson in the final. In 2022, eight ACC teams were again invided to the NCAA Tournament. Clemson was unable to defend its title, but another ACC team Syracuse, claimed the title with a penalty shoot-out victory over Indiana. 2021 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Men's Soccer Team
The 2021 Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's soccer team represented the University of Notre Dame during the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the program's 44th season. It was the program's ninth season competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Fighting Irish were led by head coach Chad Riley, in his fourth year and played their home games at Alumni Stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana. The Fighting Irish finished the season 14–5–5 overall and 4–2–2 in ACC play to finish in third place in the Coastal Division. Dail Soccer Field
The Dail Soccer Field is the on-campus soccer stadium at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. The 3,000-seat stadium was built in 2008. The current tenants are the NC State Wolfpack men's & women's soccer teams. The opening of the stadium allowed both soccer teams to play night games because their prior stadium did not include flood lights. Prior to the soccer stadium being completed, the complex was used as a training site for athletes from Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and Norway prior to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Renovations During the summer of 2011 the stadium received upgraded seating and bleachers behind both goals. A new brick look also encompasses a majority of the upgrades that have been made to the stadium, while a press box, new fan entrance and a brand-new stand alone building in the southeast corner of the stadium provides a meeting and locker room space and showers. NC State v Clemson match in 2006 The NC State Wolfpack men's soccer team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. The team is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. NC State's first men's soccer team was fielded in 1950. The team plays its home games at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh. The Pack is coached by George Kiefer. The 2022 Louisville Cardinals men's soccer team represented the University of Louisville during the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Cardinals were led by head coach John Michael Hayden, in his fourth season. They played their home games at Lynn Stadium. This was the team's 44th season playing organized men's college soccer and their 9th playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Riggs Field
Riggs Field is a 6,500-capacity soccer-specific stadium located in Clemson, South Carolina. The stadium is home to the Clemson Tigers men's and women's soccer teams. It has also hosted the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship in 1987. The stadium opened for soccer in 1980, and was renovated in 1987, and again in 2013. Previous to this, it hosted a variety of the school's athletic teams, including the football team from 1915 until 1941 and the baseball team from 1916 until 1969. It is named after Walter Riggs, the former coach of the football team and president of Clemson (1910–1924). Riggs Field is the fifth oldest collegiate athletic facility in the nation. The Newton Campus Soccer Field is the on-campus soccer and lacrosse stadium at Boston College in Newton, Massachusetts. The 1,800 person capacity stadium was built in 1999. The current tenants are the Boston College Eagles men's & women's soccer teams and Boston College Eagles women's lacrosse. Renovations Prior to the 2003 season, lights were added to the field. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
