2021–22 Texas Longhorns Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Texas Longhorns men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by first-year head coach Chris Beard (basketball), Chris Beard and played their home games at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas as members of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season 22–12, 10–8 in Big 12 play to finish in fourth place. As the No. 4 seed in the 2022 Big 12 men's basketball tournament, Big 12 tournament, they were defeated in the Quarterfinals by 2021–22 TCU Horned Frogs men's basketball team, TCU. Chris Beard (basketball)
Christopher Michael Beard (born February 18, 1973) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's coach at University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). He also previously served as head coach at Texas, Texas Tech, Little Rock, Angelo State, and McMurry. Beard graduated from high school from McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas. He was a manager at Texas under former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. He received a Masters of Education from Abilene Christian University where he served as a graduate assistant in 1998. Under Beard's watch, the Texas Tech Red Raiders made the deepest NCAA Tournament runs in school history. In 2019, the Red Raiders won a school-record 31 games on the way to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Game against the Virginia Cavaliers. 2020–21 Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2020–21 Big 12 men's basketball season began with practices in October 2020, followed by the start of the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Regular season conference play began in December 2020 and concluded in March 2021. The Big 12 tournament was held from March 11–14, 2021 and was played at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Baylor won their first ever National Championship, becoming the first Big 12 team to win the National Championship since Kansas in 2008. Matt Coleman III
Clifford Matthew Coleman III (born January 22, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Hapoel Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns. High school career Coleman played basketball for Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia for two years. After his sophomore season, he transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. As a junior, Coleman helped his team win the High School National title. He averaged 11.3 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game as a senior, helping Oak Hill finish with a 38–4 record. He was named Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year. The Alabama State Hornets basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, United States. Cibolo is a city in Guadalupe and Bexar counties in Texas, United States. It is part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Shaka Dingani Smart (born April 8, 1977) is an American men's college basketball coach and former college basketball player. He is the current head men's basketball coach at Marquette University. Smart rose to prominence in 2011 after leading Virginia Commonwealth University to its first and only Final Four appearance in school history in the 2011 NCAA tournament. Early life, education, and playing career Smart was born April 8, 1977, in Madison, Wisconsin to Winston Smart and Monica King. Smart's father was not supportive of Smart and left the family in 1994. 2020–21 Abilene Christian Wildcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Abilene Christian Wildcats men's basketball team represented Abilene Christian University (ACU) in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wildcats, led by tenth-year head coach Joe Golding, were members of the Southland Conference. Due to renovations at their usual home arena of Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas, they played their home games on temporary stands and court set up on the indoor tennis courts of the Teague Special Events Center. This was the Wildcats' final season in the Southland Conference. ACU and three other schools from Texas will leave that league on July 1, 2021 to join the Western Athletic Conference.
