2021–22 South Dakota State Jackrabbits Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 South Dakota State Jackrabbits men's basketball team represented South Dakota State University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jackrabbits, led by third-year head coach Eric Henderson, played their home games at Frost Arena in Brookings, South Dakota, as members of the Summit League. They finished the season 30–5, 18–0 in Summit League Play to finish as regular season champions. As the No. 1 seed, they defeated Omaha, South Dakota, and North Dakota State to win the Summit League tournament. They received the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region, where they lost in the first round to Providence. This was the first season in program history that the Jackrabbits eclipsed 30 wins in a single campaign. Eric Henderson (basketball)
Eric Nicholas Henderson (born May 30, 1978) is an American basketball coach. He currently coaches the Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team. Playing career Henderson played college basketball at Wayne State College in Nebraska under Greg McDermott where he registered 876 rebounds and 160 career steals. He was inducted into the Wayne State College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Coaching career After graduation, Henderson joined the coaching staff of his alma mater from 2001 to 2003. He would then enter the high school ranks as the girls basketball coach at Wayne High School until 2005. He then joined the Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball, Iowa State men's basketball program as a graduate manager and learning specialist under McDermott. Henderson would return to coaching high school in 2009 and spent five seasons as the head boys basketball coach at Burlington Catholic Central High School, while also serving as the school's athletic director and principal. 2021 Summit League Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2021 Summit League men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Summit League for the 2020–21 season. All tournament games were played at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from March 6–9, 2021. Fourth-seeded Oral Roberts defeated third-seeded North Dakota State, 75-72, to claim their fourth Summit League title and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
