2021–22 Radford Highlanders Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Radford Highlanders men's basketball team represented Radford University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Highlanders, led by first-year head coach Darris Nichols, played their home games at the Dedmon Center in Radford, Virginia as members of the Big South Conference. The Highlanders finished the season 11–18, 7–9 in Big South play, to finish in a tie for third place in the North Division. In the Big South tournament, they were defeated by North Carolina A&T in the first round. Previous season The Highlanders finished the 2020–21 season 15–12, 12–6 in Big South play, to finish in second place. They lost to Campbell in the semifinals of the Big South tournament. Darris Nichols
Darris Nichols (born May 20, 1986) is an American basketball coach and former player who is currently the head coach at La Salle University, a role he has held since 2025. He was previously the head coach at Radford University. Playing career College Nichols played college basketball at West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia, where he was a four-year letterman who played in 144 games during his four-year career. Professional After going undrafted out of college, Nichols went on to play professionally for Atomerőmű SE, a professional team in Hungary for one season that went 10-1 and won the Hungarian cup before suffering a knee injury that ended his playing career. The Emory & Henry Wasps, also known as E&H Wasps, are the athletic teams that represent Emory and Henry University, Emory & Henry University, located in Emory, Virginia, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
