2021–22 Pepperdine Waves Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Pepperdine Waves men's basketball team represented Pepperdine University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Waves were led by head coach Lorenzo Romar, in the fourth season of his second stint after coaching the Waves from 1996 to 1999. They played their home games at the Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, California as members of the West Coast Conference. Previous season In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Waves finished the 2020–21 season 15–12, 7–6 in WCC play to finish in fourth place. They defeated Santa Clara in the quarterfinals of the WCC tournament before losing in the semifinals to BYU. Lorenzo Romar
Lorenzo Romar (born November 13, 1958) is an American basketball coach and former player. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Loyola Marymount Lions men's basketball, Loyola Marymount Lions, a position he has held since 2024. He previously was the head men's basketball coach at Pepperdine University, a position he held from 1996 to 1999 and resumed from 2018 to 2024. Romar also served as the head men's basketball coach at Saint Louis University from 1999 to 2002 and the University of Washington from 2002 to 2017. Playing career Romar played college basketball at Cerritos College from 1976 to 1978 and then for Washington from 1978 to 1980. After college, he was drafted by the Golden State Warriors and spent five years playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Kessler Donovan Edwards (born August 9, 2000) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Texas Legends of the NBA G League. Colbey Ross (born October 22, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Pallacanestro Trieste of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA).
