The 2021–22 PGA Tour of Australasia, titled as the 2021–22 ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia for sponsorship reasons, was the 48th season on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the main professional golf tour in Australia and New Zealand since it was formed in 1973. European Tour strategic alliance extension In January, it was announced by the European Tour that they had extended their strategic alliance with the PGA Tour of Australasia, which had originally been signed in 2017. As part of the extension, an additional two players (three in total) from the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit were awarded European Tour status for the following season. Jediah Morgan
Jediah Morgan (born 30 November 1999) is an Australian professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia and LIV Golf League. He won the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship in 2022 and also won the 2021–22 PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. Amateur career In January 2020, Morgan won the Australian Amateur, beating Northern Irishman Tom McKibbin (golfer), Tom McKibbin 5 and 3 in the final. Professional career Morgan turned professional in October 2021. He finished second in the inaugural Sandbelt Invitational in December 2021, finishing six shots behind Brady Watt. In January 2022, Morgan won the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, in just his fourth start as a professional. He won by a record eleven shots ahead of Andrew Dodt and also broke the aggregate scoring record with a total of 262. He also became the youngest winner in the tournament's history. Queensland PGA Championship
The Queensland PGA Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. The tournament is currently held at Nudgee Golf Club in Nudgee. History The event was founded as the Queensland Professional Championship in 1926. The inaugural championship was played at Brisbane Golf Club in late November with 12 professionals competing. There was a 36-hole stroke-play stage with the leading 4 qualifying for the match-play. The 36-hole semi-finals were played the following day with the 36-hole final on the third day. Arthur Spence, the Royal Queensland professional, beat Jack Quarton, the Toowoomba professional, in the final. In 1927 the number of qualifiers was increased to 8, with the quarter and semi-finals played over 18 holes on the second day. Hannah Green (born 20 December 1996) is an Australian professional golfer and winner of the 2019 Women's PGA Championship. Early life Green was born in Perth, Western Australia. Education Green attended Como Secondary College and was in the golf academy at the school. Career Green turned professional in 2016. She plays on the LPGA Tour and ALPG Tour. Green has two pro-am wins on the ALPG Tour. She played on the Symetra Tour in 2017, winning three times, finishing second on the money list and won the Rookie of the Year award. Vic Open
The Victorian Open is an annual golf tournament held in Australia. It was founded in 1957 and is the Victoria state open championship for men. It is run by Golf Victoria and is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event is held concurrently with the Women's Victorian Open and offers equal prize pool for the two events. The tournament's tag line is: "Men and women. On the same course. At the same time. For equal prize money." The men and women play on the same course at the same time in alternating groups. History The first Victorian Open was played at Riversdale in 1957, replacing the Victorian Close Championship which had been first held in 1948. 2022 WPGA Tour Of Australasia
The WPGA Tour of Australasia, formerly known as the ALPG Tour, is a professional golf tour for women which is based in Australia. WPGA stands for Women's Professional Golfers' Association. The tour was founded as the Ladies Professional Golf Association of Australia (LPGAA) in 1972 by Alan Gillott, who also later on founded ''The Golfer'' newspaper, a free publication provided to golfers and golf clubs, Australia-wide. The LPGAA switched to ALPG Tour in 1991. The first events featured twelve competitors, and the early years were a struggle. However the long-term trend was of gradual expansion and by 2004 there were over 150 members. The season features about a dozen tournaments, usually played over the Australian summer between November and March.
