2021–22 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2021–22 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2021, followed by the start of the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference began in January 2021 and concluded in March 2022. Toledo won their second straight MAC regular season title with a 17–3 conference record. Fourth seeded Akron defeated Kent State in the final of the MAC tournament. With the automatic bid, Akron was the only MAC schools to qualify for the NCAA tournament where they lost to UCLA in the first round. Toledo accepted a bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they lost to Dayton in the first round. Ohio accepted a bid to the College Basketball Invitational. 2022 The Basketball Classic
The 2022 The Basketball Classic (TBC) was a Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination men's college basketball postseason tournament featuring National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I teams not selected to participate in the 2022 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament or the 2022 National Invitation Tournament, National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The tournament began on March 15 with the championship game played on April 1. The tournament was won by the 2021–22 Fresno State Bulldogs men's basketball team, Fresno State Bulldogs. Ryan Rollins
Ryan Anthony Rollins (born July 3, 2002) is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Toledo Rockets. Early life Rollins was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He played basketball for Dakota High School in Macomb Township, Michigan. Bennett Vander Plas (born September 19, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Dziki Warsaw of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). He played college basketball for the Ohio Bobcats and Virginia Cavaliers. Vander Plas was the Division I Academic All-American of the Year in 2022 and 2023. High school career Vander Plas graduated from Ripon High School in Ripon, Wisconsin. Jeenathan Lewis "Nate" Williams Jr. (born February 12, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Joshua Kenneth Mballa (born 29 July 1999) is a French basketball player. He played college basketball for the Ole Miss Rebels, the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Buffalo Bulls. Early life and career Mballa was born in Detroit, Michigan but raised in Bordeaux, France. He started playing competitive basketball at age eight, learning from Vincent Mbassi, a trainer at Kameet Academy who knew his uncle. Daeqwon R. Plowden (born August 29, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Bowling Green Falcons. High school career Plowden is a native of Germantown, Philadelphia, and attended Mastery Charter North School. The 2021–22 Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team represented Northern Illinois University in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 2021–22 Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball team represented Eastern Michigan University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
