2021–22 Maryland Terrapins Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represented the University of Maryland, College Park in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by interim head coach Danny Manning. They played their home games at Xfinity Center in College Park, Maryland, as members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 15–17, 7–13 in Big Ten play to finish in a three-way tie for 10th place. As the No. 10 seed in the Big Ten tournament, they lost to Michigan State in the second round. On December 3, 2021, head coach Mark Turgeon and the school announced that the parties had mutually agreed that Turgeon would step down as head coach effective immediately. Mark Turgeon
Mark Leo Turgeon (born February 5, 1965) is an American college basketball coach. Turgeon served as the head men's basketball coach at Jacksonville State University from 1998 to 2000, Wichita State from 2000 to 2007, Texas A&M from 2007 to 2011, and Maryland from 2011 to 2021. Personal Turgeon was born and raised as one of five children in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from Hayden High School, Turgeon attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a bachelor's degree in personnel administration in 1987. He is married to Ann Fowler, whom he met at KU, and together they have three children. Playing career Turgeon played basketball at Hayden High School, helping the team post a 47–3 record and capture two consecutive Class 4A state championships in 1982 and 1983. 2021 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2021 Big Ten men's basketball tournament was a postseason men's basketball tournament for the Big Ten Conference of the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season which took place March 10–14, 2021. The tournament was originally to be held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. However, on February 9, the tournament was moved to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana to better deal with testing concerns raised by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Illinois defeated Ohio State 91–88 in overtime in the championship game to win the tournament. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. South Carolina Gamecocks Men's Basketball
The South Carolina Gamecocks men's basketball team represents the University of South Carolina and competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Anthony Gerard Stubblefield (born March 28, 1970) is an American college basketball coach who is currently an assistant for the University of Oregon men's basketball team. He previously served as the head men's basketball coach at DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball, DePaul University. He was previously an assistant for the University of Cincinnati and New Mexico State University, where he also served as interim head coach during the 2004–2005 season due to Lou Henson's illness. The DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball program is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's basketball program of DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons men's basketball team represents Wake Forest University in NCAA Division I college basketball and competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Shaka Dingani Smart (born April 8, 1977) is an American men's college basketball coach and former college basketball player. He is the current head men's basketball coach at Marquette University. Smart rose to prominence in 2011 after leading Virginia Commonwealth University to its first and only Final Four appearance in school history in the 2011 NCAA tournament. DeAndre Haynes
DeAndre Lamount Haynes (born March 30, 1984) is an American assistant basketball coach under Coach Shaka Smart at Marquette University. He is a former basketball player and former assistant coach at the University of Maryland. Haynes, a 6'2" point guard from Detroit, Michigan, came to Kent State from Southwestern High School in Detroit. Playing for the Golden Flashes from 2002 to 2006, Haynes scored 1,259 points and left as the school's all-time leader in assists (625) and steals (229). In his senior season of 2005–06, Haynes averaged 13 points per game and was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press. The 2020–21 Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team represented the University of Alabama in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by second-year head coach Nate Oats. They played their home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama as a member of the Southeastern Conference.
