2021–22 Duke Blue Devils Women's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team represented Duke University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Blue Devils were led by second year head coach Kara Lawson and played their home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Blue Devils finished the season 17–13 overall and 7–11 in ACC play to finish in tenth place. As the tenth seed in the ACC tournament, they defeated Pittsburgh in the First Round before losing to seventh seed Miami in the Second Round. They were not invited to the NCAA tournament or the WNIT despite being ranked as high as No. 15 during the regular season. Kara Lawson
Kara Marie Lawson (born February 14, 1981) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team. She played professionally in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and has also been a basketball television analyst for ESPN and the Washington Wizards. Lawson primarily played as a shooting guard. She won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, a championship with the Sacramento Monarchs in the 2005 WNBA Finals, and coached the United States women's national 3x3 team to gold in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Lawson retired from the WNBA in 2015 to focus on her broadcasting career. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the NBA in 2019. 2021 ACC Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2021 ACC women's basketball tournament concluded the 2020–21 season of the Atlantic Coast Conference and was held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, from March 3–7, 2021. NC State defended their title to earn the ACC's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Tournament. Seeds All of the ACC teams except Duke and Virginia participated in the tournament. The remaining teams were seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. The top four seeds received double byes, while seeds 5 through 11 received single byes. The seeds were determined on February 28, 2021, after the final regular season games finished.
