2021–22 Charleston Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 College of Charleston Cougars men's basketball team represented the College of Charleston in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars, led by first-year head coach Pat Kelsey, played their home games at the TD Arena in Charleston, South Carolina as members of the Colonial Athletic Association. The Cougars finished the season 17–15, 8–10 in CAA play to finish in sixth place. They defeated 2021–22 Hofstra Pride men's basketball team, Hofstra in the quarterfinals of the 2022 CAA men's basketball tournament, CAA tournament before losing to 2021–22 UNC Wilmington Seahawks men's basketball team, UNC Wilmington in the semifinals. Pat Kelsey
Patrick Kelsey (born May 15, 1975) is an American college basketball coach. He is the current head men's basketball coach at the University of Louisville. He previously served as head coach for the College of Charleston Cougars men's basketball, College of Charleston and Winthrop Eagles men's basketball, Winthrop University. Playing career Kelsey played high school basketball at Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He transferred to Elder High School for his senior year and in 1993 helped lead the team to a Division I state title. Kelsey began his collegiate career as a freshman guard at the University of Wyoming. He transferred to Xavier Musketeers men's basketball, Xavier in 1994 where he played three seasons. Coaching career Assistant coaching (2004–2011) Kelsey began his career as an assistant coach at Wake Forest University and later Xavier University.
