2021–22 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2021–22 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2021, followed by the start of the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in December 2021 and concluded March 8–12, 2022, with the 2022 ACC men's basketball tournament at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This was the 68th season of Atlantic Coast Conference basketball. Head coaches Coaching changes * Roy Williams retired after serving as the head coach at North Carolina for 18 seasons. Hubert Davis was hired as the next head coach of North Carolina. *Boston College fired Jim Christian in the middle of the season, after leading the team to a 3–13 record. Christian's overall record with Boston College was 78–132 and 26–94 in ACC play. Scott Spinelli served as interim coach until the end of the season. Joshua Paul Pastner (born September 26, 1977) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the men's basketball head coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Pastner was a player on the 1997 Arizona Wildcats men's basketball national championship team, and an assistant coach at the University of Arizona under Lute Olson and at the University of Memphis under John Calipari. The Wright State Raiders men's basketball is the men's college basketball team that represents Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. Bradley Robert Brownell (born November 15, 1968) is an American college basketball coach at Clemson University. Prior to coming to Clemson, he held the same position at Wright State and UNC Wilmington. Early life Born in Evansville, Indiana, Brownell played high school basketball at William Henry Harrison High School with former Indiana University player and current Director of Player Development Calbert Cheaney. Brownell graduated from DePauw University in 1991, where he was a member of the basketball team and the Sigma Chi fraternity. The Charleston Cougars men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. Earl Grant (born December 25, 1976) is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach for the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team. Prior to being named head coach at Boston College, Grant served as head coach at the College of Charleston, as an assistant coach at Clemson University, and an assistant coach for six years under former Charleston assistant coach Gregg Marshall at Wichita State and Winthrop University. Scott Anthony Spinelli (born April 22, 1966) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head coach of the Chicago State Cougars men's basketball team. Playing career Scott Spinelli was born in Leominster, Massachusetts. He is a 1989 graduate of Boston University, where he was a member of the basketball team under coach Mike Jarvis, on a Terriers squad that advanced to the NCAA tournament in 1988.
