2021–22 Nedbank Cup
The 2021–22 Nedbank Cup was the 2021–22 edition of South Africa's premier knockout club football (soccer) competition, the Nedbank Cup. Mamelodi Sundowns won the competition after defeating Marumo Gallants in the final. Preliminary rounds Eight teams from the SAFA Second Division (called the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons) qualify for the round of 32. One team from each of the nine provinces is selected, with two teams drawn to play each other in a knockout to reduce the number to eight. King Zwelithini Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Umlazi, a township south-west of Durban, South Africa. It is used mostly for football matches and was initially set to be utilized as a training field for teams participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup after being renovated in 2010 and brought up to FIFA standards. However, since the participating teams were residing in the north of Durban, it was decided that King Zwelithini Stadium was located too far away for practice sessions. The stadium's capacity was expanded from 5,000 to 10,000 as a lasting legacy of the World Cup. Free State Stars Football club was a South African professional soccer club based in Bethlehem, Free State that played in the National First Division. Formerly known as Makwane Computer Stars, Fairway Stars and Qwa Qwa Stars, their most significant honour was winning the 1994 Coca-Cola Cup and 2017–18 Nedbank Cup. Black Leopards FC is a South African professional association football, football club based in Thohoyandou, Vhembe, Vhembe Region, Limpopo, that plays in the National First Division. Kabokweni (also known as Ngodini) is a town in Ehlanzeni District Municipality in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Kabokweni was formally established in 1967 as the first residential township in the KaNgwane Bantustan.
