2020–21 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Wake Forest Demon Deacons men's basketball team represented Wake Forest University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Demon Deacons were led by first-year head coach Steve Forbes and played their home games at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Demon Deacons finished the season 6–16, 3–15 in ACC play, to finish in fourteenth place. They lost to Notre Dame in the first round of the ACC tournament. They were not invited to either the NCAA tournament or NIT. Previous season The Demon Deacons finished 2019–20 season 13–17, 6–14 in ACC play to finish in a tie for 13th place. Steve Forbes (basketball)
Steve Forbes (born March 22, 1965) is an American men's college basketball head coach for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. His Division I experience includes five years at East Tennessee State, two seasons at Texas A&M, one year at Illinois State, three years at Louisiana Tech, and two years at Idaho. Early life A native of Lone Tree, Iowa, Forbes graduated from Southern Arkansas University with a degree in secondary education in 1988. A former baseball student-athlete for the Muleriders, Forbes spent one year at his alma mater as the sports information director before embarking on a coaching career. Coaching career Early career After spending two years (1989–91) as an assistant coach at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa, Forbes was promoted to head coach in March 1991. Brandon Reginald Childress (born August 31, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for CBet Jonava of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). 2020 National Invitation Tournament
The 2020 National Invitational Tournament was to be a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I men's college basketball teams not been selected to participate in the 2020 NCAA tournament. The tournament was to begin on March 17 and end on April 2. The first three rounds were to be played on campuses, with the semifinal and championship final played at Madison Square Garden in New York City. On March 12, the NCAA canceled the tournament, along with all winter and spring championships for 2020 as a precaution with the coronavirus pandemic.
