2020–21 Providence Friars Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Providence Friars men's basketball team represented Providence College during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by tenth-year head coach Ed Cooley, and played their home games at Alumni Hall in Providence, Rhode Island as a member of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 13-13, 9-10 in Big East Play to finish in 6th place. They lost in the first round of the Big East tournament to DePaul. Ed Cooley
Ed Cooley (born September 10, 1969) is an American college basketball coach and currently the head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball program. Cooley held the same position at Providence College from 2011 to 2023, and Fairfield University from 2006 to 2011. In 2022, he received national honors as the Naismith College Coach of the Year. Additionally, he received the inaugural 2010 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year Award. Early years Cooley was born on September 10, 1969, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Jane Cooley and Edward Smith. He was one of nine children by his mother in a family on welfare, living in the low-income South Providence neighborhood. However, he would later be taken in by neighbors Gloria and Eddie Searight, who provided Cooley with meals and a place to sleep. North Florida Ospreys Men's Basketball
The North Florida Ospreys represent the University of North Florida (UNF) in men's college basketball. The Ospreys compete in the ASUN Conference (A-Sun) in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They play home games at UNF Arena on the school's campus in Jacksonville. The program was founded in 1992 in the NAIA. They entered NCAA Division II the following season. The Ospreys transitioned into NCAA Division I from 2005 to 2009.
