2020–21 Nicholls Colonels Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Nicholls Colonels men's basketball team represented Nicholls State University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonels, led by third-year head coach Austin Claunch, played their home games at Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. Previous season The Colonels finished the 2019–20 season 21–10, 15–5 in Southland play to finish in a tie for second place. They were set to take on Lamar in the second round of the Southland tournament until the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Austin Claunch
Austin Claunch (born November 17, 1989) is an American college basketball coach. He has served as the head coach at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) since 2024. Playing career Claunch played four years at Emory, where he was a three-time First Team All-University Athletic Association selection, finishing his career with the Eagles as the school's all-time assists leader, and ranking eighth all-time in career points. Coaching career After graduation, Claunch spent the 2012–13 season as the director of player development under Paul Hewitt at George Mason, and from 2013 to 2015 served as a graduate manager at Clemson before being named the assistant video services director for the Tigers for the 2015–16 season. They finished the season 13–11, 8–6 in Big Sky play, to finish a tie for fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky tournament to Montana State. Leavey Center, also known as the Leavey Activities Center or occasionally by its old nickname the Toso Pavilion, is Santa Clara University's indoor basketball arena in Santa Clara, California.
