2020–21 Elon Phoenix Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Elon Phoenix men's basketball team represented Elon University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Phoenix, led by second-year head coach Mike Schrage, played as seventh-year members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and played their home games at the Schar Center in Elon, North Carolina. Previous season The Phoenix finished the 2019–20 season 13–21, 7–11 in CAA play, to finish in seventh place. They played in the 2020 CAA men's basketball tournament, where they defeated 10-seed James Madison in the first round, upset 2-seed William & Mary in the quarterfinals, and lost to 6-seed Northeastern in the semifinals. Mike Schrage
Mike Schrage (born April 2, 1976) is an American basketball coach, currently a Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Duke Blue Devils men's basketball, Duke University. He was formerly the head coach for the Elon Phoenix men's basketball team. He has a wife (Amanda) and two children (Andrew and Sophie). Coaching career While a student at Indiana University Bloomington, Schrage was a manager and student assistant with the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball, men's basketball team. After graduation, he was hired as the director of operations at Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball, Ole Miss, where he stayed for one season before joining the academic support staff at Duke Blue Devils men's basketball, Duke. Arendell Parrott Academy
Arendell Parrott Academy is a non-sectarian private school located in Kinston, North Carolina, for grades K–12. The school was the vision of Marion Parrot, a local attorney and state representative. After struggling for a few years to gain support, the untimely death of their son, Arendall, provided the inspiration to Parrott family to open the school. However, their efforts did not come to fruition for several years, when Federally forced desegregation of the public schools created an interest among White Parents to flee to private schools.
