2020–21 Duke Blue Devils Women's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team represented Duke University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Blue Devils were led by first year head coach Kara Lawson and played their home games at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. During the off-season, Duke announced that head coach Joanne McCallie had retired after thirteen years as head coach. On July 11, 2020, Kara Lawson was announced as the new head coach. On December 25, 2020, it was announced that the team would end their season due to COVID-19 concerns. The Blue Devils finished the season 3–1, and 0–1 in ACC play. Due to their season cancellation they did not participate in the ACC tournament, NCAA tournament or WNIT. Kara Lawson
Kara Marie Lawson (born February 14, 1981) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils women's basketball team. She played professionally in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and has also been a basketball television analyst for ESPN and the Washington Wizards. Lawson primarily played as a shooting guard. She won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, a championship with the Sacramento Monarchs in the 2005 WNBA Finals, and coached the United States women's national 3x3 team to gold in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Lawson retired from the WNBA in 2015 to focus on her broadcasting career. She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the NBA in 2019. 2019–20 Boston College Eagles Women's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Boston College Eagles women's basketball team represented Boston College during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Eagles were led by second year head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee. They played their home games at the Conte Forum and were members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Eagles finished the season 20–12 and 11–7 in ACC play to finish in a tie for fourth place. As the sixth seed in the ACC tournament, they defeated Clemson in the Second Round and Duke in the Quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion NC State in Semifinals. The NCAA tournament and WNIT were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Previous season They finished the season 14–16, 3–13 in ACC play to finish in thirteenth place.
