2020–21 Drake Bulldogs Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs are led by third-year head coach Darian DeVries. They played their home games at Knapp Center on campus in Des Moines, Iowa, as members of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). In a season limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Bulldogs finished the season 26–5, 15–3 in MVC play to finish in second place. In the quarterfinals of the MVC tournament, they advanced to the semifinals after Northern Iowa was forced to forfeit due to COVID-19 issues. They defeated Missouri State in the semifinals before losing to Loyola in the championship game. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 11 seed in the First Four. Darian DeVries
Darian Dale DeVries (born April 7, 1975) is an American basketball coach who is currently the head men's basketball coach at Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana. He was previously the head coach at Drake Bulldogs men's basketball, Drake University from 2018 to 2024 and at West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball, West Virginia during the 2024–25 season. Early life DeVries was born and raised in Aplington, Iowa. The oldest of five siblings, he played basketball and football at Aplington High School for three years before graduating from the merged Aplington-Parkersburg High School in 1993. 2019–20 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season on November 5, 2019. Conference play began in late December 2019 and concluded in March with the Missouri Valley Conference tournament at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Northern Iowa captured the regular season title at 14–4. Bradley defeated Valparaiso in the championship game to win the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and thereby would have received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Northern Iowa, by virtue of winning the regular season title, but not winning the conference tournament, would have received the conference's automatic bid to the National Invitational tournament. The Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Horizon League for the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. They are coached by Doug Gottlieb. 2019–20 Bradley Braves Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Bradley Braves men's basketball team represented Bradley University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Braves, led by fifth-year head coach Brian Wardle, played their home games at Carver Arena in Peoria, Illinois as members of the Missouri Valley Conference.
