2020 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2020 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Northeast Conference for the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. All tournament games are played at the home arena of the highest seed. The tournament took place March 4–10, 2020. Seeds The top eight postseason-eligible teams in the Northeast Conference will compete in the conference tournament. Teams will be seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. *Note: Merrimack College joined the Northeast Conference from Division II Northeast-10 Conference. The Warriors will not be eligible for the NEC Tournament until 2024. 2019–20 Robert Morris Colonials Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Robert Morris Colonials men's basketball team represented Robert Morris University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonials, led by tenth-year head coach Andrew Toole, played their home games at the UPMC Events Center in Moon Township, Pennsylvania as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 20–15, 13–5 in NEC play to finish in a tie for second place. They defeated St. Francis Brooklyn, LIU and Saint Francis (PA) to be champions of the NEC tournament. They earned the NEC's automatic bid before the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 15, 2020, Robert Morris announced that this would be the last season for the team in the NEC as they will join the Horizon League on July 1, 2020. 2019–20 LIU Sharks Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 LIU Sharks men's basketball team represented Long Island University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Sharks were led by third-year head coach Derek Kellogg, and played their home games at the Steinberg Wellness Center, with some home games at the Barclays Center, as members of the Northeast Conference (NEC). This was the first season for the LIU Sharks, which is a consolidation of the two athletic programs, the Division I LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds and Division II LIU Post Pioneers. They finished the season 15–18, 9–9 in NEC play to finish in a tie for fifth place. 2019–20 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 Northeast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play started in January and ended in February 2020. The NEC tournament was held in March with the higher-seeded team hosting each game. The quarterfinals were played on March 4, the semifinals on March 7, and the championship game on March 10. Changes from last season Merrimack College joined the Northeast Conference from Division II Northeast-10 Conference. They are not eligible this year for the NEC tournament. On October 3, 2018 Long Island University announced that it would combine its two existing athletic programs—NEC member LIU Brooklyn and the Division II program at LIU Post—into a single Division I program under the LIU name. The 2020 Northeast Conference women's basketball tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Northeast Conference for the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. All tournament games were scheduled to be played at the home arena of the highest seed from March 9 through March 15, 2020. On March 12, the NCAA announced that the tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
