2020–21 Youngstown State Penguins Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Youngstown State Penguins men's basketball team represented Youngstown State University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Penguins, led by fourth-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun, played their home games at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio as members of the Horizon League. Previous season The Penguins finished the 2019–20 season 18–15, 10–8 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for fourth place. They defeated Milwaukee in the first round of the Horizon League tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to UIC. They accepted and invitation to the CollegeIndsider.com Tournament. However, the CIT, and all other postseason tournaments, were cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Jerrod Calhoun
Jerrod Frank Calhoun (born October 17, 1981) is an American basketball coach and former guard who is the head coach of the Utah State Aggies men's basketball team. He previously served as the head coach at Youngstown State University from 2017 to 2024 and Fairmont State University from 2012 to 2017. He played college basketball at Cleveland State from 2001 to 2003. Playing career A standout basketball player at Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio, Calhoun attended Cleveland State University and played two seasons under Rollie Massimino. He moved on to Cincinnati and acted as a student assistant under Bob Huggins until his graduation in 2004. Coaching career Calhoun's first job post graduation was as an assistant at Walsh University where he was part of the Cavaliers' NAIA national championship squad in 2005. Quincy is a village in Branch County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,554 at the 2020 census. The village is centered along U.S. Route 12 within Quincy Township.
