2019–20 Winthrop Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Winthrop Eagles men's basketball team represented Winthrop University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by eighth-year head coach Pat Kelsey, played their home games at the Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina as members of the Big South Conference. They finished the season 24–10, 15–3 in Big South play to finish in a tie for the Big South regular season championship. They defeated 2019–20 USC Upstate Spartans men's basketball team, USC Upstate, 2019–20 Gardner–Webb Runnin' Bulldogs men's basketball team, Gardner–Webb and 2019–20 Hampton Pirates men's basketball team, Hampton to be champions of the 2020 Big South Conference men's basketball tournament, Big South tournament and earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament. Pat Kelsey
Patrick Kelsey (born May 15, 1975) is an American college basketball coach. He is the current head men's basketball coach at the University of Louisville. He previously served as head coach for the College of Charleston Cougars men's basketball, College of Charleston and Winthrop Eagles men's basketball, Winthrop University. Playing career Kelsey played high school basketball at Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He transferred to Elder High School for his senior year and in 1993 helped lead the team to a Division I state title. Kelsey began his collegiate career as a freshman guard at the University of Wyoming. He transferred to Xavier Musketeers men's basketball, Xavier in 1994 where he played three seasons. Blythewood, South Carolina
Blythewood is a town in Richland and Fairfield counties, South Carolina, United States; and a suburb of Columbia. As of the 2020 United States census, the population of the town was 4,772. History Blythewood was originally named "Doko", a Native American term for a watering place. The town was named after Doko Depot, which was a stop along the railroad that ran between Charlotte and Columbia. In 1865, this railroad was destroyed by General Sherman.
