2019–20 Scarlets Season
The 2019–20 season was the 16th season in the history of the Scarlets, a Welsh regional rugby union side based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. They competed in the Pro14 and after failing to qualify for the European Rugby Champions Cup, Champions Cup the previous season for the first time in their history, participated in the European Rugby Challenge Cup, Challenge Cup. It was the team's first and only season under head coach Brad Mooar, who was assisted by defence coach Glenn Delaney and assistant attack coach Richard Whiffin, following Wayne Pivac's departure to leathe Wales national rugby union team, Wales national team. On December 24, 2019, it was announced that Mooar would leave the Scarlets at the end of the season to join the New Zealand national rugby union team, New Zealand All Blacks' coaching team. Brad Mooar (born 28-Aug-1974) is a New Zealand professional rugby union coach. He was previously assistant coach at Southern Kings and Crusaders (rugby union), Crusaders and was head coach at the Scarlets in Wales. Wayne Pivac
Wayne Pivac (born 1962) is a New Zealand rugby union coach who is the head coach of the Green Rockets Tokatsu, NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu who play in the Japan Rugby League One. In November 2019 he replaced Warren Gatland as the Wales national rugby union team, Wales national team coach and remained in this position until 2022. A former sworn officer in the New Zealand Police, he was a constable at the Takapuna police station on Auckland's North Shore, New Zealand, North Shore. He played his early rugby at Rosmini College and then Westlake Boys High School. Pivac played senior rugby for both the Northcote and Takapuna rugby clubs. Pivac played for North Harbour Rugby Union while he was a policeman. A recurring knee injury forced Pivac to retire from playing rugby at the age of 28. Ryan Conbeer
Ryan Conbeer (born 5 February 1999) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for the Ospreys in the United Rugby Championship as a winger. He had previously played for the Scarlets and Llanelli RFC Professional career Conbeer first played for Tenby RFC, before moving to Narberth RFC at U12 level. While with Narberth, Conbeer was selected for Wales U16. Conbeer played for Scarlets U16, and joined the academy. He progressed into the Wales U18 side, and joined them on a tour to South Africa. Conbeer earned his first call-up to the Wales U20s squad for the 2017 Six Nations Under 20s Championship. Conbeer's debut came in a victory to Italy U20, a game in which Conbeer scored a try. Angus O'Brien
Angus O'Brien (born 17 September 1994) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays Dragons RFC. He can play as outside half and fullback. O'Brien is a Wales under-20 international. Angus O’Brien played club rugby for Caerleon RFC at Junior level before beginning his Senior career. Tom Prydie
Tom Prydie (born 23 February 1992) is a Welsh rugby union player. A fullback who can also play on the wing, Prydie is the youngest player ever to represent the Wales national team and the youngest player in the history of Europe's top rugby union club competition, the Heineken Cup. Steffan Hughes (rugby Union)
Steffan Hughes (born 17 February 1994) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for Old Glory DC as a centre. Hughes previously played for the Scarlets regional team. He is a Wales Under-20 international and previously captained the side. Hughes made his debut for the Scarlets regional team in 2014 having previously played for the Scarlets academy. Ahead of the 2019-2020 season, Hughes was named as one of the Scarlets' vice-captains along with Werner Kruger, James Davies and Jonathan Davies. Hughes had first captained the Scarlets side against the Cheetahs during the 2017-2018 season. Tom James (born 17 April 1987 in Rhymney) is a Welsh former professional rugby union player. James represented Wales and spent most of his career with Cardiff Blues Club career After turning to rugby from athletics, he joined Merthyr RFC on the wing. After a successful year at Merthyr James joined Cardiff RFC at the start of the 2006–07 season. James scored 11 tries in just nine games to open the season which brought him to the attention of the first fifteen, with whom he had an academy contract. Jersey Reds was a rugby union club based in Jersey, Channel Islands. On 28th September 2023, the club ceased trading and shortly thereafter went into liquidation following the withdrawal of financial support from a key investor.
