2019–20 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders men's basketball team represented Middle Tennessee State University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blue Raiders, led by second-year head coach Nick McDevitt, played their home games at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 8–23, 4–14 in C-USA play to finish in last place. They failed to qualify for the C-USA tournament. Previous season The Blue Raiders finished the 2018–19 season 11–21 overall, 8–10 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for ninth place. In the C-USA tournament, they were defeated in the first round by UAB. Nick McDevitt
Nicholas Bryan McDevitt (born April 21, 1979) is a college basketball coach and the current head coach for Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). McDevitt came to MTSU from his alma mater, UNC Asheville, where he compiled a 98–66 record and led the Bulldogs to consecutive Big South Conference The Big South Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I. The 2019–20 Lipscomb Bisons men's basketball team represented Lipscomb University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bisons, led by first-year head coach Lennie Acuff, played their home games at the Allen Arena in Nashville, Tennessee as members of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Previous season The Bisons finished the 2018–19 season 29–8 overall, 14–2 in ASUN play to finish as regular season co-champions, along with Liberty. In the ASUN tournament, they defeated Kennesaw State in the quarterfinals, NJIT in the semifinals, before losing to Liberty in the championship game. Two human polls made up the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball rankings, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season ended March 12, 2020. As a result, the NCAA did not bestow a national championship. Instead, that title was de facto bestowed by one or more different polling agencies. There were two main weekly polls that began in the preseason—the AP Poll and the Coaches' Poll. Kansas, while having not officially made a claim, finished first in both polls. While the program recognised the Helms Athletic Foundation mythical national championship rankings for the 1921-22 and 1922-23 seasons as national championships, this team has yet to be recognised.
