2019–20 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 Mid-American Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play began in January 2020 and concluded in March 2020. Akron won the regular season championship with a record of 14–4. Akron's Loren Cristian Jackson was named player of the year. The MAC tournament was cancelled due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The NCAA tournament and all of the national postseason tournaments were cancelled. Preseason awards The preseason coaches' poll and league awards were announced by the league office on October 31, 2019. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates College athletics in the United States, student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, and Simon Fraser University, 1 in Canada. Daeqwon Plowden
Daeqwon R. Plowden (born August 29, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Bowling Green Falcons. High school career Plowden is a native of Germantown, Philadelphia, and attended Mastery Charter North School. He was the school's first 1,000-point scorer and was a two-time all-state team selection. Plowden played primarily as a forward and center in high school; he credits his team's coaches, Terrence Cook and Gerald Johnson, for teaching him combined big man and guard skills. Tyler Cheese
Tyler Cheese (born November 13, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza of the Polish Basketball League. High school career Cheese played three years at Albany High School and led the team to the Class AAAA state tournament as a junior. He transferred to Combine Academy in North Carolina. As a senior, Cheese averaged 17.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 41 percent from behind the three-point arc, earning All-State recognition. Michael Flowers (born January 14, 1999) is an American basketball player for Antwerp Giants of the BNXT League. He previously played for the Western Michigan Broncos, South Alabama Jaguars and the Washington State Cougars. He was named second-team All-Pac-12 with Washington State in 2022. Luke Knapke
Luke Andrew Knapke (born January 10, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for Limburg United of the Pro Basketball League. He played college basketball for Toledo. High school career Knapke attended Marion Local High School. As a junior, he averaged 14.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game to help his team finish 20–5. Eugene German
Eugene German (born December 2, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for the Northern Illinois Huskies and left as the program's all-time leading scorer and a conference champion. High school career German grew up in crime-ridden Gary, Indiana and played basketball from an early age under his father's guidance. Jayvon Donnell Graves (born December 29, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for BC Rytas, Rytas Vilnius of the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga, Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). Nike Sibande (born 6 June 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Darüşşafaka of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL).
