2019–20 Marshall Thundering Herd Men's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team represented Marshall University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Thundering Herd, led by sixth-year head coach Dan D'Antoni, played their home games at the Cam Henderson Center as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 17–15, 10–8 in C-USA play to finish in sixth place. They defeated UTEP and were scheduled to play Louisiana Tech in the quarterfinals of the C-USA tournament. However, the tournament canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Previous season The Thundering Herd finished the 2018–19 season 23–14, 11–7 in C-USA play to finish in sixth place. They defeated Rice before losing to Southern Miss in the quarterfinals of the C-USA tournament. Dan D'Antoni
Lewis Joseph "Dan" D'Antoni II (born July 9, 1947) is an American former basketball player and coach, who most recently served as head coach for the Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team. He was previously an assistant coach under his younger brother, Mike D'Antoni, with the NBA's Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers. Playing career Born in Mullens, West Virginia, D'Antoni played college basketball at Marshall University from 1966 to 1970. He was the Thundering Herd's starting point guard from 1968 to 1970. He led the Herd with a 17.5 scoring average in 1968–69. In 1990, he was inducted into the Marshall University Athletics Hall of Fame. The Central Missouri Mules basketball team represents the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri, in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA NCAA Division II, Division II men's basketball competition (the school's women's basketball team is known as the "Jennies"). Jonathan Elmore (born December 20, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for Manisa Basket of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). He played college basketball for Marshall. High school Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Elmore averaged 31.4 points as a senior at George Washington High School in Charleston and was West Virginia player of the year. The 2018–19 Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
