2019–20 Major Arena Soccer League Season
The 2019–20 Major Arena Soccer League season is the twelfth season for the league. The league adopted a new format during the offseason, merging the four divisions into two conferences and eliminating the divisional format. On 12 March 2020, the league announced they would end the regular season early due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. On July 1, 2020, MASL announced that the Board of Directors had voted to conclude the 2019–20 season with the recognition of the Monterrey Flash and Florida Tropics being the winners of the Western and Eastern Conferences, respectively. The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) is a professional indoor soccer league in North America. The MASL features teams playing coast-to-coast in the United States and Mexico. The league is the highest level of arena soccer in North America. The league draws talent from a global talent pool with players from Major League Soccer (MLS), Liga MX, and many national teams. With a new management team, the league has grown in popularity and commercially. Former USMNT and MLS star Landon Donovan played in the MASL, as do multiple international players. The Kansas City Comets are an American professional indoor soccer team based in the Kansas City metropolitan area that competes in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). Originally called the Missouri Comets, the team joined the Major Indoor Soccer League (2008–2014), Major Indoor Soccer League as an expansion team in the 2010–2011 season. Max Ferdinand (born November 4, 1986) is a Haitian footballer currently playing for the Milwaukee Wave in the Major Arena Soccer League. Career Youth and amateur Ferdinand grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania and attended Reading High School, but did not play college soccer. In 2009 Ferdinand played with FC Reading Revolution in the National Premier Soccer League. Anthony Donatelli (born June 7, 1984, in Glenside, Pennsylvania) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder for the Baltimore Blast of the Major Arena Soccer League. Career Youth and College Donatelli played for Hunter Soccer Club as a child before playing college soccer at Temple University from 2002 to 2005, and with the Ocean City Barons in the USL Premier Development League. In 2005, he was named to the PDL All-Eastern Conference Team after finishing second in Barons scoring with ten goals and six assists in sixteen games played. Ian Dwight Bennett (born August 27, 1983) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for the Milwaukee Wave in the Major Arena Soccer League. Career College and amateur Bennett attended St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School, and played college soccer at Marian College from 2003 to 2006. Vinicius "Vini" Helder dos Anjos Dantas (born 14 September 1989) is a Brazilian football striker who plays for Utica City FC of the Major Arena Soccer League. Career Dantas grew up in São Paulo in Brazil, predominantly playing futsal. He moved to the United States at age 18 to attend Azusa Pacific University on a football scholarship. Leo Gibson (born August 9, 1983) is a Liberian footballer who played for and was the former head coach for the Kansas City Comets in the MASL. Career College Gibson was born in Monrovia, Liberia, but came to the United States in 2002, having previously played for the Monrovia Black Star youth team in the Liberian Premier League. The Tacoma Stars are an American professional indoor soccer team based in Tacoma, Washington, that competes in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). The San Diego Sockers are an American professional indoor soccer team based in San Diego County, California, that competes in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL).
