2019 MAAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. It was held from March 7–11, 2019 at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. This marked the 20th time the tournament was played at the Times Union Center. No. 1 seed Iona defeated No. 6 seed Monmouth in the championship game 81–60 to win the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA tournament. With the win, Iona became the first MAAC team to win four consecutive MAAC Tournament championships, while also making this their MAAC-record leading seventh consecutive championship game appearance. Times Union Center
MVP Arena (originally Knickerbocker Arena, and then the Pepsi Arena and Times Union Center) is an indoor arena located in Albany, New York. It is configurable and can accommodate from 6,000 to 17,500 people, with a maximum seating capacity of 15,500 for sporting events. 2018–19 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2018–19 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's basketball season began with practices in October 2018, followed by the start of the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season on November 6. Conference play started in January and concluded March 22, 2019. This season was the 38th season of MAAC basketball. The MAAC season saw four teams spend considerable time being in first place; Rider, Monmouth, Canisius and Iona. Rider started MAAC play off strong, winning seven of their first eight MAAC games, and looking like they would prove the preseason #1 pick correct. But then a five-game losing streak left them at 7–6, and two games out of first place. The MAAC men's basketball tournament (popularly known as the MAAC Tournament) is the conference championship tournament in basketball for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The tournament has been held every year since 1982, the MAAC's first season. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season records. The winner, declared conference champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The MAAC did not receive its automatic bid from the NCAA until 1984. The tournament has used several formats in its history, though seeding in all formats has been based strictly on conference record (with tiebreakers used as needed). Kevin Marfo (born May 26, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for Fortitudo Agrigento in Italy's Serie A2 league. Tajuan Agee (born November 12, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque of the French LNB Pro A. He played college basketball for Iona and Tyler Junior College. Early life Agee grew up in Chicago and grew up playing baseball and football. 2018–19 Niagara Purple Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Niagara Purple Eagles men's basketball team represented Niagara University in the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They played their home games at the Gallagher Center in Lewiston, New York as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and were led by 6th-year head coach Chris Casey. They finished the 2018–19 season 13–19 overall, 6–12 in MAAC play to finish in a three-way tie for ninth place.
