Simon McTavish (canoeist)
Simon McTavish (born July 19, 1996) is a Canadian male sprint kayaker. Born in Oakville, Ontario, Simon McTavish moved with his family to Sydney, Australia where he began paddling in 2011 at the age of 14. He represented Australia for 7 years from 2012 to 2018 on Olympic Hopes, Junior, U23 and Senior Teams. After successful international results in 2018, winning medals for Australia at the U23 World Championships and the FISU World University Games, the opportunity presented itself to return home to Canada and Simon jumped at it. In 2019, at the conclusion of his Project Management Degree at the University of Sydney, Simon moved back to Canada and secured his spot on the Canadian National Team in May at the Olympic Basin in Montreal, Canada, winning the k1 1000m and the k4 500m races. Nicholas Matveev (born August 7, 1997) is a Canadian sprint kayaker. Career At the World Championships, as part of the K4 boat, Matveev finished in ninth in the second semifinal, failing to qualify for the finals. A year later, the boat finished in fifth in the B final (14th overall). In May 2021, Matveev was named to Canada's 2020 Olympic team. In September 2023, Matveev was named to Canada's 2023 Pan American Games team. In June 2024, Matveev was named to Canada's 2024 Olympic team. Pierre-Luc Poulin (born December 21, 1995) is a Canadian sprint kayaker. He won several World Cup and international medals. Career At the age of 19, at the 2015 Pan American Games Poulin won the bronze medal in the K-2 200 m event. In May 2021, Poulin was named to Canada's 2020 Olympic team. Mark De Jonge
Mark de Jonge (born 15 February 1984) is a Canadian male sprint canoeist, primarily specializing the 200 m kayak event. De Jonge won a bronze medal in the K-1 200 m at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He is the two time reigning world champion in same event having also won a silver medal at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in 2013. He is also the current Pan American champion in the 200 having won gold in Toronto at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, where he also won an additional bronze, and a silver and bronze at previous editions of the Pan Am Games. He was named the Air Canada Athlete of the Year in 2015 for Canada. Career Born in Calgary in 1984, de Jonge moved to Halifax in 1997 where he started kayaking.
