Winterberg Bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton Track
The Winterberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton track located in Winterberg, Germany. It is the only track of its kind in the world with a turn that has sponsor (commercial), corporate sponsorship with turn seven being sponsored by Veltins, a Germany, German brewery which has its headquarters located in neighboring Meschede. History Completed in 1977, the track underwent a redesign of its start house area where the women's luge start house was moved from before turn four to near the men's luge start house prior to turn one in 2006. Roman Alexandrovich Repilov (; born 5 March 1996) is a Russian luger. Competitive career Representing Russia at the 2015–16 Luge World Cup, Repilov placed second in the sprint event in Calgary with a time of 30.279. On 2 December 2016, he came in fifth in the Lake Placid event of the Men's Singles 2016-17 Luge World Cup, but set a new Lake Placid track start record of 6.359 seconds. Later in the same season, he triumphed in the men's singles event at Park City, Utah, came in second twice, in Winterberg, Germany and Sigulda, Latvia and won two men's singles sprint events in Park City and Sigulda. Anton Olehovych Dukach (, born 30 July 1995) is a Ukrainian luger. Career At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, Anton Dukach finished 4th in boys' singles having lost 0.022 sec to German athlete who was third. He was 7th in team relay (together with Stetskiv, Buryy, and Lehedza). He was also the flagbearer of Ukraine at the Games. Dukach's first World Cup season was the 2012-13 season. As of February 2022, Dukach's best Luge World Cup finish was 15th in the 2019-20 season in Sigulda, Latvia, both in singles and sprint races. Dukach participated at several World Championships, with his best personal result being 20th in 2021. On 27 December 2017 Dukach qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Inārs Kivlenieks (born 4 July 1986 in Riga) is a Latvian luger who has competed since 2005. His best Luge World Cup season finish was 20th in men's doubles in 2006–07. Tucker West
Tucker West (born June 15, 1995) is an American luger who, at the age of 18, was the youngest male ever to qualify to represent the United States in the men's luge at the Olympics. West placed 22nd in the men's single competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Career West attended National Sports Academy High in Lake Placid, New York. Before going away to school he was a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut. When West was a boy, his father designed and built a wood luge track in the backyard of their Ridgefield home. West attends Union College in Schenectady, New York. Before making the ten-member Sochi squad, West was the co-champion of the 2012 U.S luge singles title with Chris Mazdzer, a U.S junior silver medalist, and a silver medalist at the 2011 World Cup in Austria.
