2018–19 Winthrop Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Winthrop Eagles men's basketball team represented Winthrop University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by seventh-year head coach Pat Kelsey, played their home games at the Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina as members of the Big South Conference. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament to Charleston Southern. Previous season The Eagles finished the 2017–18 season 19–12, 12–6 in Big South play to finish in a tie for second place. They defeated Gardner–Webb in the quarterfinals of the Big South tournament before losing in the semifinals to Radford. Pat Kelsey
Patrick Kelsey (born May 15, 1975) is an American college basketball coach. He is the current head men's basketball coach at the University of Louisville. He previously served as head coach for the College of Charleston Cougars men's basketball, College of Charleston and Winthrop Eagles men's basketball, Winthrop University. Playing career Kelsey played high school basketball at Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He transferred to Elder High School for his senior year and in 1993 helped lead the team to a Division I state title. Kelsey began his collegiate career as a freshman guard at the University of Wyoming. He transferred to Xavier Musketeers men's basketball, Xavier in 1994 where he played three seasons. Uniontown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,173 at the 2020 census.
