2018–19 UConn Huskies Women's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 UConn Huskies women's basketball team represented the University of Connecticut (UConn) during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Huskies, led by Hall of Fame head coach Geno Auriemma in his 34th season at UConn, played their home games at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion and the XL Center and were sixth year members of the American Athletic Conference. They finished the season 35–3, 16–0 in AAC play to win the AAC regular season championship. They defeated East Carolina, South Florida, and UCF to win the AAC women's tournament title. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA women's tournament. As the No. 2 seed, they defeated Towson and Buffalo to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. They defeated UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen and Louisville in the Elite Eight to reach their 20th Final Four. Geno Auriemma
Luigi "Geno" Auriemma (born March 23, 1954) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach of the University of Connecticut Huskies women's basketball team. He holds the NCAA basketball records for wins and winning percentage with a minimum of 10 seasons. Auriemma also has the most NCAA Division I basketball championships at 12. Serving as UConn's head coach since 1985, Auriemma built the team into one of the top women's college basketball programs. In addition to the record 12 championships, he has led UConn to 19 undefeated conference seasons (including eight consecutive) and six perfect seasons. He has also won eight national Naismith College Coach of the Year awards. Outside of college basketball, Auriemma was the head coach of the United States women's national team from 2009 through 2016, winning the 2010 and 2014 World Championships, and gold medals at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. Chesterfield Court House is an unincorporated community and former census-designated place that is the county seat of Chesterfield County, Virginia, United States. Olivia Nelson-Ododa
Olivia Nelson-Ododa (born August 17, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball at UConn Huskies women's basketball, UConn. Early life Nelson-Ododa played basketball for Winder-Barrow High School in Winder, Georgia. As a sophomore, she was named ''Athens Banner-Herald'' Co-Player of the Year after averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds per game, and leading her team to the Class 6A state final. She averaged 16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game as a junior before suffering a season-ending knee injury. As a senior, she averaged 19 points, 16 rebounds, and six blocks per game, and was named Miss Georgia Basketball. She was selected to play in the McDonald's All-American Game.
