2018–19 Superliga (men's Handball)
The 2018–19 Superliga was the 63rd season of the Polish Superliga, the top men's handball league in Poland. A total of fourteen teams contested this season's league, which began on 31 August 2018 and concluded on 29 May 2019. Vive Kielce, PGE Vive Kielce won their 16th title of the Polish Champions. The Polish Superliga, officially known as the Orlen Superliga due to its sponsorship by Orlen, is the top men's handball league in Poland. It is currently a 14 teams league, played from September to May. The competition was founded in 1956 under the name ''I Liga'' and changed its name to ''Ekstraklasa'' in 1998. Since 2010, it is named ''Superliga''. MMTS Kwidzyn
MMTS Kwidzyn is a men's handball club from Kwidzyn, Poland, that plays in the Superliga. The current name of the club is Energa Borys MMTS Kwidzyn due to sponsorship reasons. History The team was founded in 1998. In the 1999/2000 season, it reached 2nd place in the Division 1 Group B and was promoted to the Superliga. In its first season in the Superliga, the team finished in 8th place. In the 2008/2009 season, the team stood on the podium of the Polish championship for the first time: in the fight for the bronze medal, they defeated the AZS-AWFiS Gdańsk team 3:2. In the 2008/2009 season, the team started in the international cup for the first time, in the third round of the EHF Challenge Cup, they were eliminated against the Serbian RK Proleter Zrenjanin. MKS Kalisz is a men's handball club from Kalisz, Poland, that plays in the Superliga. The current name of the club is Energa MKS Kalisz due to sponsorship reasons. History The club was founded in 2007 and was able to start in the second league. The Polish Handball Association expanded the first league on May 31, 2012, so the team started playing in the first league in the 2012/2013 season. In 2016, Bartłomiej Jaszka became the team's player coach. In the 2016/2017 season, the team won 21, drew one and lost four, finishing first in Division 1 Group B with 43 points. After winning the first league, the club management requested and received a license to play in the Superliga. MKS Zagłębie Lubin is a men's handball club from Lubin, Poland, that plays in the Superliga. History The club was founded in 1967 under the name Górnik Lubin. His first coach was Szymon Kanigowski. The team reached the Polish top division for the first time at the end of the 1990/1991 season, already under the name Zagłębie Lubin.
