2018–19 SAFA Second Division
The 2018–19 SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons) was the 21st season of the SAFA Second Division, the third tier for South African association football clubs, since its establishment in 1998. Due to the size of South Africa, the competition was split into nine divisions, one for each region. After the league stage of the regional competition was completed, the nine winning teams of each regional division entered the playoffs. JDR Stars won the playoff after defeating Steenberg United 1-0 in the final. The SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons, and previously the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the overall third tier of South African association football, football. The competition is regulated by South African Football Association, SAFA, and until 2012 had been sponsored by mobile telecommunications company Vodacom. It features 144 teams in total, divided into 9 divisions, borders decided by the 9 geo-political provinces of South Africa: Eastern Cape, Free State (South African province), Free State, KwaZulu Natal, Northern Cape, Western Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West (South African province), North West. Sekhukhune I (Matsebe; circa 1814 – 13 August 1882) was the paramount King of the Marota, more commonly known as the Bapedi (Pedi people), from 21 September 1861 until his assassination on 13 August 1882 by his rival and half-brother, Mampuru II. As the Pedi paramount leader he was faced with political challenges from Voortrekkers (Boer settlers), the independent South African Republic (Dutch: ''Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek''), the British Empire, and considerable social change caused by Christian missionaries. Following the death of his father, King Sekwati, on 20 September 1861, Sekhukhune successfully defended his right to the throne against his half-brother Mampuru II and heir apparent with the support of his Matuba regiment. Erica Park, sometimes also referred to as Erica Park Stadium, is a multi-use stadium, situated in the Belhar suburb of Cape Town, at the Western Cape Province in South Africa. Until June 2010, the stadíum was known as the sole home venue of Ikapa Sporting, but since then, the club -for unknown reasons- preferred instead to play their home games in the Wynberg suburb. Magesi F.C. is a football club located in Moletši, Kgabo Park, Limpopo, South Africa. The club was established in 2011. History The club was originally called Tambo F.C. and won promotion from the SAB League to the ABC Motsepe League and changed name. The club was a fierce rival of Baroka during their time together at the Limpopo ABC Motsepe league along with Dolphins FC. Magesi is a regular contender in the Nedbank Cup representing the lower league from Limpopo. Their best finish was reaching the round of 16 in 2016 where they played and lost 6–0 to Bidvest Wits.
