2018–19 Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team represented the University of Iowa during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by ninth-year head coach Fran McCaffery and played their home games at Carver–Hawkeye Arena as members of the Big Ten Conference. The Hawkeyes finished the season 23–12, 10–10 in Big Ten play to finish in sixth place. They defeated Illinois in the second round of the Big Ten tournament before losing to Michigan in the quarterfinals. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 10 seed in the South region. There they defeated No. 7-seeded Cincinnati in the First Round before losing to No. 2-seeded Tennessee in the Second Round. Fran McCaffery
Francis John McCaffery (born May 23, 1959) is an American college basketball coach who is the current men's basketball head coach at the University of Pennsylvania. He previously served as head coach of Lehigh University, UNC Greensboro, Siena, and Iowa, taking all four programs to the NCAA tournament at least once. McCaffery played college basketball for one season at Wake Forest before transferring to Penn. In his playing days, he acquired the nickname of "White Magic;" he was also referred to as the “Conductor” on the court. He began his college coaching career with a stint at Penn as an assistant coach. McCaffery became an assistant coach at Lehigh in 1983. He was the youngest head coach in Division I when he was promoted to head coach in 1985. Following his career at Lehigh, McCaffery spent 11 years as an assistant at Notre Dame. 2017–18 Big Ten Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 Big Ten men's basketball season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. The 2018 Big Ten tournament was held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Due to the Big East's use of that venue for the 2018 Big East tournament, the Big Ten tournament took place one week earlier than usual, ending the week before Selection Sunday. As a result, the conference season began on December 1, 2017 and concluded on February 25, 2018. Each team played one road game and one home conference game in the first week of December. With a win over Wisconsin on February 25, 2018, Michigan State clinched the outright Big Ten championship, their eighth under Tom Izzo. Bettendorf High School
Bettendorf High School (BHS) is a public four-year comprehensive high school located in Bettendorf, Iowa and is part of the Bettendorf Community School District. History Early history Prior to its opening in 1951, there was no high school in Bettendorf. High school-age students living in the city had to go to Davenport High School or Le Claire High School to receive their secondary education. The original BHS building was completed in 1951 at a site between 21st and 23rd streets south of Central Avenue. CJ Fredrick (born July 10, 1999) is an American former college basketball player. He previously played for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kentucky Wildcats and the Cincinnati Bearcats. High school career Fredrick played basketball for Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills, Kentucky. As a senior, he was named Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year. He led his team to a state championship and set program single-season records with 900 points and 107 three-pointers. Joseph Hinman Wieskamp (born August 23, 1999) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the South East Melbourne Phoenix of the Australian National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League (NBL). The Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team represents Drake University, located in Des Moines, Iowa, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. The program is best known for making the 1969 Final Four.
