2018–19 Florida Panthers Season
The 2018–19 Florida Panthers season was the 25th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 14, 1993. The Panthers were eliminated from playoff contention on March 26, 2019, after losing 6–1 to the Montreal Canadiens. This was also the final season for Roberto Luongo, who announced his retirement on June 26, 2019, after playing 19 seasons in the NHL. As of 2024, this is the most recent season in which the Panthers did not qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Atlantic Division is a name used by the National Hockey League to describe a division of teams in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. As part of a 2013 realignment, the entirety of the former Atlantic Division was realigned into the Metropolitan Division. The Florida Panthers are a professional ice hockey team based in the Miami metropolitan area. The Panthers compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. The 2018–19 Columbus Blue Jackets season was the 19th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997. On April 5, 2019, the Blue Jackets clinched a playoff spot after a 3–2 shootout win over the New York Rangers. The Blue Jackets won their first ever playoff series by sweeping the Presidents' Trophy winners, the Tampa Bay Lightning, in the First Round of the playoffs. The 2018–19 Tampa Bay Lightning season was the 27th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on December 16, 1991. The team clinched a playoff spot on March 8, 2019, when the Montreal Canadiens lost 8–2 to the Anaheim Ducks. This season marked the first time that Tampa won the Presidents' Trophy in franchise history, winning the Atlantic Division for the second consecutive year as well, their fourth division title overall. James Reimer
James Reimer (; born March 15, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL). Reimer has also played in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, San Jose Sharks, Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings and Anaheim Ducks. Michael Edward Hutchinson (born March 2, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently plays for Saimaan Pallo in the Finnish Liiga.
