2018–19 Cairns Taipans Season
The 2018–19 NBL season was the 20th season for the Cairns Taipans in the National Basketball League (NBL). Roster Depth chart Pre-season As part of their pre-season, the Taipans played eight pre-season games. Their first game was held in Cairns against Drexel University, the second in Rockhampton against the Brisbane Bullets and the following two games were against Melbourne United. As a club in the NBL they also took part in the NBL Blitz, and played games against the Sydney Kings, the Perth Wildcats and the New Zealand Breakers, however they opted out of the NBLxNBA games. To finish their pre-season they played a final game in Adelaide against the Adelaide 36ers. Kuany Kuany (basketball, Born 1994)
Kuany Ngor Kuany (born 8 July 1994) is a South Sudanese-Australian basketball player who last played for Kauhajoen Karhu of the Finnish League and FIBA Europe Cup. Professional career Born in Aweil, South Sudan, Kuany moved to Melbourne, Australia at age 9. Kuany started his professional career in 2017 with the Cairns Taipans of the NBL. He stayed there for two seasons. On 20 December 2018, Kuany had a career-high 10 points in a home loss to the Sydney Kings. In the 2018–19 season, Kuany played with the Ballarat Miners in the NBL1. There, he averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. On 15 September 2019, Kuany signed with the Sydney Kings. On 27 November, he was delisted from the roster by the Kings after the team acquired Xavier Cooks. In 2021, Kuany returned to the NBL1 to play with the Sandringham Sabres, where he averaged 20.2 points per game in 12 games. The New Zealand Breakers (also known as the Bank of New Zealand, BNZ Breakers for sponsorship reasons) are a New Zealand professional basketball team based in Auckland. Perth Wildcats
The Perth Wildcats are an Australian professional basketball team based in Perth, Western Australia. The Wildcats compete in the National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at Perth Arena, RAC Arena, known colloquially as "The Jungle". After three years of strong lobbying to the NBL, the creation of a national basketball team in Perth finally occurred in 1982. The Westate Wildcats were established and played out of the 800-seat Perry Lakes Basketball Stadium. The Sydney Kings are an Australian men's professional basketball team competing in the National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League (NBL). The team is based in Sydney, New South Wales, and play their home games at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park. Melbourne United
Melbourne United is an Australian professional basketball team based in Melbourne, Victoria. United compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at John Cain Arena. The team made their debut in the NBL in 1984 as the Melbourne Tigers. The Tigers were led by coach Lindsay Gaze and his son Andrew from 1984 until 2005, with the pair guiding the Tigers to two championships in the 1990s. Brisbane Bullets
The Brisbane Bullets are an Australian professional men's basketball team in the National Basketball League (NBL) based in Brisbane, Queensland. They competed from 1979 to 2008, and returned to the league in 2016. Brisbane were one of ten NBL foundation teams and have won three NBL championships, being successful in the 1985 and 1987 seasons, and again in 2007. They have also competed in the 1984, 1986 and 1990 grand finals and have reached the playoffs 22 times. On 30 June 2008, it was announced that the Bullets license had been returned to the NBL, following financial difficulties for owner Eddy Groves and the failure of attempts to find a new ownership group. Rockhampton
Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. In the , the population of Rockhampton was 79,293. A common nickname for Rockhampton is "Rocky", and the demonym of Rockhampton is Rockhamptonite. Jarrod Daniel Kenny (born 17 September 1985) is a New Zealand basketball player who last played for the Hawke's Bay Hawks of the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL). Dexter Grant Kernich-Drew (born 16 October 1991) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Waverley Falcons of the NBL1 South. He played college basketball for Washington State before beginning a career in the National Basketball League. Early life and career Kernich-Drew was born in Melbourne, Victoria.
