2018–19 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2018–19 American Athletic Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2018 followed by the start of the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. The conference held its media day in October 2018. Conference play began in December 2018 and concluded in March 2019. Michael Perry (basketball)
Michael Perry (born November 10, 1958) is an American college basketball coach who is in his second stint as an assistant men's basketball coach at East Carolina University. Prior to joining the Pirates program, he served as the head men's basketball coach at Georgia State University from 2003 through 2007, and also held assistant coaching positions at Georgia State, Richmond and Virginia Union University. Perry also served as interim head coach of East Carolina for most of the 2017–18 season, as head coach Jeff Lebo underwent hip surgery and stepped down from the position on November 29, 2017. Perry played for the University of Richmond from 1978 through 1981 and finished his career as the Spiders' career leader in points scored (2,145). Penn Quakers Men's Basketball
The Penn Quakers men's basketball team is the college basketball program representing the University of Pennsylvania. As the List of teams with the most victories in NCAA Division I men's college basketball, twentieth-winningest men's basketball program of all-time, the team from Penn had its greatest success from 1966 to 2007, a period of over 40 years. Fran Dunphy
Francis Joseph Dunphy (born October 5, 1948) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach at the University of Pennsylvania for 17 seasons, Temple University for 13 seasons, and La Salle University for three seasons. Originally starting at Penn in 1989, Dunphy led the school to ten Ivy League championships. He was hired at Temple to succeed John Chaney in 2006, spending 13 seasons with the program and making eight NCAA tournament appearances. After a brief stint as Temple's interim athletic director, in 2022, Dunphy was named head coach of the La Salle Explorers, his alma mater, where he coached for three seasons until his retirement in 2025. Brian Gregory
Brian Francis Gregory (born December 15, 1966) is an American basketball executive and former coach and player who is the general manager of the Phoenix Suns. He was vice president of player programming for the Phoenix Suns, and a former college basketball coach who was most recently the head men's basketball coach at South Florida. He was previously serving as a consultant to Tom Izzo at Michigan State after being let go as head coach with Georgia Tech. Tim Jankovich
Timothy Robert Jankovich (born June 4, 1959) is an American former college basketball coach and former head coach at Southern Methodist University. During his first year (2007–08) at Illinois State, Jankovich led the Redbirds to a 13–5 second-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference – even though pre-season polls voted the team to be a fifth-place finisher. He was an assistant basketball coach at Kansas for four years, and served under current Kansas head coach Bill Self at Kansas and Illinois. Kelvin Dale Sampson (born October 5, 1955) is an American college basketball coach, currently the head coach for the University of Houston of the Big 12 Conference. Early life Sampson was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina, to parents who were members of the Lumbee Native American community of Deep Branch in Robeson County, North Carolina, in which he was reared. Sampson excelled in the classroom and the athletic arena during his prep days at Pembroke High School, in Pembroke, North Carolina. The Rhode Island Rams men's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Murray State Racers men's basketball program represents Murray State University in intercollegiate men's basketball. Murray State is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), having joined that conference in 2022 after 74 seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference.
