The 2018 Spikers' Turf season was the third season of the men's volleyball league Spikers' Turf, which began on October 6, 2018, with only one conference. Spikers' Turf
The Spikers' Turf is the top-level men's semi-professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by the Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. (Sports Vision), established in 2015. History The league had its beginnings in 2014, when the Shakey's V-League introduced a men's division during its Shakey's V-League 11th Season Reinforced Open Conference, 21st conference. The following year, Sports Vision decided to spin off the men's division as a separate league, giving birth to the Spikers' Turf. In late-2016, Sports Vision announced that the league be merged back in the 2017 season with the Shakey's V-League (which was renamed as the Premier Volleyball League; PVL). The men's division in the PVL ended with the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference, 2018 PVL Collegiate Conference as its final tournament. Ateneo Blue Eagles Men's Volleyball
The Ateneo Blue Eagles men's volleyball program is the men's collegiate varsity volleyball team of the Ateneo de Manila University. The team competes in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). History The Ateneo Blue Eagles men's volleyball team was formed in 1967. They first played competitive varsity volleyball when they participated in the women's volleyball tournament of the NCAA (Philippines) in Season 43 (1967–68). After 7 year, Season 51 (1975–76), the Blue Eagles won their first NCAA men's volleyball championship. In Season 52 (1976–1977), they won their second NCAA volleyball championship title and first back-to-back championship title. They were unable to defend their title in the NCAA because Ateneo de Manila transferred to the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 1978. IEM Volley Masters
The Instituto Estetico Manila Volley Masters, are a former professional men's volleyball team playing in various tournaments, including the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) and the Spikers' Turf. The team was owned bInstituto Estetico Manila a dental and dermatological clinic. In 2014, the team joined the Philippine Super Liga in its 2014 All-Filipino Conference. This was followed by its participation in the inaugural men's tournament of the Shakey's V-League, where it emerged as that league's first men's champion. History Cosmetic surgeon Reyvic Cerilles established a women's volleyball team in 2001 which took part in the two-woman tournament Club 650. The FEU Tamaraws volleyball program is the men's collegiate varsity volleyball team of the Far Eastern University. The team competes in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). History The FEU Tamaraw Spikers won their first UAAP volleyball title in season 9 (1946–47). As of UAAP Season 75, the Tamaraws have won 25 UAAP volleyball titles. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is the top-level professional women's volleyball league in the Philippines organized by the Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The PVL was established in 2004 as the inter-collegiate Shakey's V-League (SVL) until it rebranded to the current entity in 2017. Prior to becoming a full-fledged professional league in 2021, the PVL was open to participation of corporate owned semi-professional clubs and non-collegiate teams backed by local governments. The PVL previously operated men's and collegiate divisions before they were spun-off into Spikers' Turf and the V-League (Philippines), V-League, respectively, both are also operated by Sports Vision.
