2018 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The 2018 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I consisted of two international ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Division I A and Division I B represent the second and third tier of the IIHF Women's World Championship. France won the Division I Group A tournament and moved up to the Top Division, while Italy became the champions of Division I Group B and will play in the Division I Group A tournament next year. Similar to last year, there are no relegations to lower divisions this year either. Division I Group A The Division I Group A tournament was played in Vaujany, France, from 8 to 14 April 2018. 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I consisted of two international ice hockey tournaments organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Division I A and Division I B represent the second and third tier of the IIHF Women's World Championship. At the 2017 IIHF annual congress it was decided that the Top Division would expand from eight to ten teams. As a result, all relegations from the 2017 tournaments were cancelled, and there would also be no relegation in all 2018 tournaments. Denise Altmann
Denise Altmann is an Austrian ice hockey forward, currently playing for Linköping HC in the SDHL and the Austrian national team. She is the SDHL's all-time leader in points, having led the league in scoring five times between 2009 and 2015, and winning the SDHL championship twice. Career She began her career with EHV Sabres Wien, and would score 122 points across 32 games in the EWHL, winning the championship in 2005. In 2007, Altmann signed with Linköping in Sweden, where she continues to play to this day. Across 13 seasons with the team, she has put up 563 points in 337 games. In 2017, she announced her decision to retire but reversed that decision a few months later, coming back to be named club captain, after having served as an assistant captain for the previous five years. Nicoline Søndergaard Jensen (born 8 November 1992) is a Danish ice hockey player and captain of the Danish national team. Josefine Jakobsen
Josefine Jakobsen (born 17 May 1991) is a Danish ice hockey forward and member of the Danish national team, currently playing in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) with Brynäs IF. Known for her strong two-way play, she is the thirteenth leading scorer in SDHL history and the second leading scorer in Djurgården history. She has won the Swedish Championship three times and was the first player to be named Danish Women's Player of the Year twice by the Danish Ice Hockey Union. Chloé Aurard (born 15 March 1999) is a French professional ice hockey forward for the New York Sirens of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), and the French national team. Playing career Pre-college career In the 2013–14 season, Aurard played in the France women's ice hockey league, the top level of women's ice hockey in the country. In a season that began when she was just 14 years old, she ranked second in league scoring with 17 goals and 24 points in 11 games. Estelle Duvin (born 1 February 1997) is a French ice hockey centre and alternate captain of the French national team, currently playing in the Swiss Women's League (SWHL A) with SC Bern Frauen. Playing career Duvin attended the University of Maine, but was unable to play for the Black Bears due to differences in the French and American school systems. Betty Jouanny (born 4 January 1992) is a French ice hockey forward and member of the French national team. She was most recently active in the Swiss Women's League (PFWL) with HC Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies during the 2023–24 season. Playing career Jouanny grew up in Chamonix, before leaving France to play and study at the Université de Montréal in Québec. In 2013, she moved to Sweden to sign with Brynäs IF in the Riksserien. She would play 147 with Brynäs, scoring 61 points. After five seasons with Brynäs, she signed with Djurgårdens IF ahead of the 2018-19 SDHL season.
