2018 AVC Women's Challenge Cup
The 2018 AVC Women's Challenge Cup was supposed to be the inaugural edition of the AVC Women's Challenge Cup, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), in that year with the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong, China. But due to unforeseen reasons the tournament was not held. Participating teams The tournament was open to AVC member associations ranked 11th and below or that did not participate in the 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship. Priority was given to teams that took part in the championship, then to the highest-ranked non-participating teams. The host could admit up to ten teams. AVC Women's Challenge Cup
The AVC Women's Challenge Cup, also known as the AVC Challenge Cup for Women, is an annual international volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), the sport's continent governing body. From 2023 to 2024, the winner will qualify for the FIVB Challenger Cup. This event should not be confused with the other, more prestigious continental competition for Asian national women's volleyball teams, the Asian Volleyball Championship and Asian Volleyball Cup. The three AVC Challenge Cup tournaments has been won by two different national teams. Vietnam have won twice while Hong Kong have won once. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. The Asian Volleyball Confederation, commonly known by the acronym AVC, is the continental governing body for the sports of indoor, beach, and grass volleyball in Asia and Oceania. 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship
The 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship was the nineteenth edition of the Asian Championship, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI). The tournament was held in both Biñan and Muntinlupa, Philippines from 9 to 17 August 2017. Qualification The fourteen AVC member associations were submit their women's national team to the 2017 Asian Volleyball Championship. The fourteen AVC member associations were from four zonal associations, including, Central Asia (4 teams), East Asia (5 teams), Oceania (2 teams), and Southeast Asia (3 teams). The 2018 AVC Men's Challenge Cup was the inaugural edition of the AVC Challenge Cup, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and that year with the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF). The tournament was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 15 to 21 September 2018. Qualification 8 AVC member associations qualified for the 2018 AVC Men's Challenge Cup. Sri Lanka qualified as hosts and the 3 teams were qualified from the 2017 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship while 4 teams were new entrants. The 2018 Asian Women's Volleyball Cup, so-called 2018 AVC Cup for Women was the sixth edition of the Asian Cup, a biennial international volleyball tournament organised by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) with Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA). The tournament was held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 16 to 23 September 2018. As hosts, Thailand automatically qualified for the tournament, while the remaining 9 teams, qualified from the 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship in Biñan and Muntinlupa, Philippines.
