2018–19 Virginia Cavaliers Women's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Virginia Cavaliers women's basketball team represented the University of Virginia during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Cavaliers, led by first year head coach Tina Thompson, played their home games at John Paul Jones Arena and were members the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 12–19, 5–11 in ACC play to finish in twelfth place. They advanced to the second round of the ACC women's tournament where they lost to Syracuse. Previous season The 2017–18 Cavaliers finished the season 19–14, 10–6 in ACC play to finish in a 3-way tie for sixth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC women's tournament where they lost to Notre Dame. Tina Thompson
Tina Marie Thompson (born February 10, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. Most recently, she served as the head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers women's basketball team from 2018 to 2022; she was subsequently hired by the Portland Trail Blazers as a team scout later in 2022. Thompson was inducted into both the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018. The first college draft pick in WNBA history, Thompson was selected first by the Houston Comets. She helped lead the Comets to four consecutive WNBA Championships in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000. Purdue Boilermakers Women's Basketball
The Purdue Boilermakers women's basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Big Ten Conference. Purdue is rich in tradition and history, holding the record for Big Ten women's basketball tournament championships, along with annually ranking in the top 10 nationally in home attendance.
