2018–19 Ranji Trophy
The 2018–19 Ranji Trophy was the 85th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament that took place in India between November 2018 and February 2019. Vidarbha were the defending champions. The final took place between Vidarbha and Saurashtra, starting on 3 February 2019. Vidarbha defeated Saurashtra by 78 runs in the final, to become the sixth team in the tournament's history to retain their title. Background In April 2018, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reinstated Bihar for the competition, bringing the total teams to 29. In July 2018, the BCCI increased the total number of teams to 37, with the addition of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Pondicherry, Sikkim and Uttarakhand. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the principal national governing body of the sport of cricket in India. Sikkim Cricket Team
The Sikkim cricket team is a cricket team that represents the state of Sikkim in Indian domestic competitions. In July 2018, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named the team as one of the nine new sides that would compete in domestic tournaments for the 2018–19 season, including the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, prior to the start of the tournament, the team did not have a ground to play first-class cricket on. Unlike some of the other new teams, Sikkim decided to enter their first List A competition with a team made up entirely of home-grown players. Vinayak Radhakrishna Samant (born 25 October 1972) is an Indian cricketer who played for Tripura, Mumbai and Assam. Born at Mumbai, he is a right-handed wicket-keeper batsman. Naman Ojha
Naman Vinaykumar Ojha (born 20 July 1983) is an Indian former cricketer. He made his Test debut for India against Sri Lanka on 28 August 2015. He retired from all formats of cricket on 15 February 2021. Amol Mazumdar
Amol Anil Muzumdar (born 11 November 1974) is an Indian cricket coach and former cricketer who previously played for the cricket teams of Mumbai and Assam. He was primarily a right-handed batsman. He held the record for the most runs scored in the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class cricket competition, beating the record previously held by Amarjit Kaypee. In October 2023, BCCI appointed Amol as the head coach of the India women's national cricket team. Education Muzumdar attended B P M High School before transferring to Sharadashram Vidyamandir School as requested by Ramakant Achrekar, his coach. In the latter high school, Muzumdar met Sachin Tendulkar, who had the same coach. Not Out
In cricket, a batsman is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batsman is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with, so the innings ends. Hyderabad Cricket Team
The Hyderabad cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the city of Hyderabad, Telangana, run by the Hyderabad Cricket Association. It is part of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group and has seen scattered success over its many years in the Ranji Trophy circuit. It has won Ranji Trophy twice and been runners-up thrice and have made one appearance in the Irani Trophy. Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team
The Madhya Pradesh cricket team formerly known as Holkar cricket team, is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It competes in the Ranji Trophy. History Holkar cricket team A Central India team competed in the Ranji Trophy between 1934–35 and 1939–40, playing 12 matches. In 1941, Holkar entered the competition, organised and managed by King Yashwantrao Holkar II belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Marathas. Ajay Rohera (born 4 June 1997) is an Indian cricketer. He made his List A debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 19 September 2018. He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 6 December 2018. He scored 267 not out, and broke the record for highest score on debut in a first-class innings. Ajay Kumar Sharma () (born 3 April 1964) is a former Indian cricketer. Sharma was a prolific run-maker in first-class cricket, mainly for Delhi, scoring over 10,000 runs, at an average of 67.46. He was a part of the Indian squad which won the 1988 Asia Cup. Domestic career In the Ranji Trophy, Sharma scored a record 31 centuries and his batting average of approximately 80 in the competition is second only to Vijay Merchant. Paras Dogra (born 19 November 1984) is an Indian cricketer who has played first-class cricket since 2001. He is a right-handed batsman. Pankaj Singh (born 6 May 1985) is an Indian former cricketer. In December 2018, he became the first seam bowler to take 400 wickets in the Ranji Trophy.
